Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Posted : 2 months, 4 weeks ago on 27 January 2024 05:11

I decided to watch Star Wars for the first time in March if 2021. I wanted to watch it in timeline order, and watch all the cartoons as well. I am so happy I did. With the exception of Star Wars Resistance, they were great. But out of all the Star Wars I watched, I spent the most time with the clone wars. That is because it is so long, but it made me make a connection with the show, and some of the characters who aren't really in the movies. It is definitely my favorite animated show, and it is also one of my favorite shows all time.

I loved so much about this show. I loved the characters, the writing, the animation, and the acting. Most of the characters in this show are characters from the prequel movies, with the exception of Ahsoka Tano. She made her debut in The Clone Wars movie as a young Padawan to Anakin. She developed over the span of 7 seasons, and 12 years to be some peoples favorite Star Wars character. She isn't my number 1 favorite, but she is definitely up there. She became so popular, she made a live action appearance in The Mandalorian season 2 episode 5, and is getting her own live action show that is a spin-off to The Mandalorian. Of course, characters like Anakin, Obi-Wan, and everyone else from the prequels were also amazing.

I also have to give credit to the show runner, Dave Filoni. He had no experience with CGI animation coming into this show, and did amazing. Not only was the animation great, the writing of the episodes were amazing. The whole show involves the main characters doing crazy missions, and it all takes place in between "Attack of the Clones," and "Revenge of the Sith." Until the final four episodes of this show that takes place during "Revenge of the Sith." A few seasons in, the writers started doing 'series of four.' It is four episodes in a row that are all one story. It is basically one long episode split into four. Some of the 'series of fours' were phenomenal. Especially the finales.

Lastly, the acting in this show was amazing. This show used predominantly voice actors instead of their live action actors, and they were all perfect. Their tones and the way they spoke made it sound like the live action character. I have to give huge credit to the actors of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Maul. Their performances in this show were phenomenal. Especially Maul. His voice acting in my opinion was better than it was in "The Phantom Menace."

Like I said, this is my favorite animated show, and is one of my favorite shows all time. Everything from the acting to the way the characters developed together was just amazing. The ending of this show also couldn't have been written any better. I definitely recommend watching this show. I am extremely grateful that I did.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars review

Star Wars: The Clone Wars review

SWTCW was an animated TV show that aired from 2008 to 2014. the film started with a movie that holds the record for the lowest grossing star wars movie ever. the movie was kinda weird and it had a lot of unnecessary moments.

season 1-now season 1 is widely panned for awkward animation and bad voice acting. I don't know why, I think it's fantastic. from the first episode I saw, I was hooked. people seem to forget that a lot of great episodes came out of this season like rookies or the hidden enemy or defenders of peace or innocents of Ryloth or hostage crisis.

season 2-while season 1 didn't have a truly awful episode, season 2 had some bad, and I mean BAD episodes. the Mandalore and Boba Fett arcs were really boring. I didn't really find Geonosis all that entertaining. the best part of season 2 was the deserter. the episode followed Obi-wan, Cody and Rex and they're hunting Grievous. while on the hunt, Rex suffers a shot to the chest and family takes him in while the others continue the search. Rex later discovers that the father of this family was a former clone named Cut and the two must work together when commando droids (the same type of droids that injured Rex) invade the farmland.

season 3-a slight improvement over season 2 but can't contain the magic of season 1. this season did have a lot of boring episodes like political nonsense and the citadel. the nightsisters and mortis were the best parts of the season. Chewbacca shows up and fights some sport hunters.

season 4-this season was AWESOME!!!! easily my favorite season in the show. the episode opens with the Mon Cal arc and it was OK at best. the next three episodes were very filler. the Umbara arc was one of the best parts of the entire show. then there's an arc where Obi-wan fakes his death and goes undercover as a bounty hunter to gather information and it was really awesome. the best part of this arc is called the box. it's where 11 bounty hunters enter an obstacle course and if you mess up, you die. it's the arc I was worried about was the return of Darth Maul. but when the actual episodes aired, I was surprised by how well executed they were.

season 5-season 5 is regarded as the best clone wars season, well not for me. the season starts with an arc where this group of rebels is fighting the droids to retake their planet and it wasn't that great. the next arc was even worse, it focused on these incompetent younglings as they avoid pirates and Grievous's droids. the only thing the redeems this arc is Obi-wan and Cody fight Grievous and a couple of funny Hondo scenes. the next arc focused on five droids including R2 (yes, I'm counting the pit droid) trying to steal a separatist card for plans or something and their led by a little frog man. this arc was OK. the first two episodes weren't that good but that last two episodes were awesome. the best episode of the season was the lawless mainly because of the lightsaber fight at the end.

season 6- like season 2, season 6 suffered from boring and annoying episodes. the best episode was called orders. the final part of a four part arc, orders followed fives as he found out the secrets of the republic and discovered order 66. this ended up to his death at the hands of his fellow clone brothers. the last episode focused on Yoda having this crazy vision where he and Anakin are fighting Darth Sidious.

overall I satisfied with the show and I hope on day they bring it back. it is my favorite TV show of all time.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Ok, so that spinoff movie, and backdoor pilot, left a bad taste in your mouth, I get that. Trust me, I understand. You feel burnt badly by the general frustrating nature of the prequels? I’m right on board with that. I’m looking you in the eye and telling you I understand.

But trust me on this, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is great. Of course, not every episode is golden, and a few stories could have done with some judicious editing, or just not made it past the initial development phase, but as a complete work, The Clone Wars is fantastic. It’s every shade and texture of the Star Wars universe writ large.

One week we’re watching a thrilling western with a group of bounty hunters, the next it’s a prolonged political thriller in the Republican Senate, and after that there’s something childish involving droids. Not all of it works, but it explores every facet and idea of Star Wars can be, and I appreciate its scope and vision.

It delves deep into the mythology, explaining and exploring the imbalance of the Force, and the original Jedi and Sith temples. It demonstrates the training necessary to become a Force ghost, or assemble a lightsaber, or what it takes to make it through Jedi training. It’s thrilling and engaging, unafraid to go very dark and mature, or balls-out weird and wild. The Clone Wars is what the prequels wanted to be, but failed.

The first season or two features clunky and blocky animation for the main characters, and their interactions with the environments are cursory and strange, at best, but stick with the show and it becomes gorgeous and fluid. By the final season, the animation is dynamic and alive, the characters movement contain more grace and balance, and the environments are things to get lost in. I’m particularly fond of anything having to do with Asajj Ventress and her home world of all-powerful witches.

This series is an action-packed love letter to Star Wars, bridging the gap between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. By the time the final episode rolls, we can see where the chaos and imbalance of the Force is going, setting the stage for the original trilogy and beyond. This is some of best storytelling in the expanded universe, and luckily, for us, Disney has let it remain canon. So what does a Star Wars story look like? The Clone Wars has some surprising answers, and they’re very malleable.
