A former intelligence officer, Shaposhnikov, is investigating the case of the disappearance of a passenger plane in 1998. The past echoes in the present when one of the passengers from the missing flight manages to contact his family. A journalist named Anna, who is accustomed to noticing details that others overlook, is brought into the case.
