Poldark

Posted : 14 years, 4 months ago on 24 December 2009 01:03

Poldark was an magnificent production.Never could be done again such a defectless
setting, acting, photography and cast!!!!
I remember I was about 12 when I first watch it on TV...( here we knew it around 1986)and I felt in love with England forever more...I run to the Enciclopedy to look for Truro..I wanted to know where this site was ubicated...if it existed...
and remember my Emotion when I found Truro ubicated on the Southern cost of England....I was so happy!!!!
Here in my country we could watch it several times in Publicc television.Oh my God...this dramatic and unfortunate love story !!This unmutual devotion among Ross and Demelza!!!(she loved him deeply and he never could return such love to her!!!!)What a terrible story!!!!
The cast, the clothing, the landscapes..all was perfect...
I started to love BBC productions and having England near my heart...

I give a Ten to Poldark!!!!And I still dream about going Truro some day!!!
regards
cecilie

Hidden gem for the period drama fan

Posted : 15 years, 3 months ago on 30 January 2009 10:03

This is quite frankly a gem in the crown on British period dramas. Only the very greats, and I'm talking Pride & Prejudice great, can seek to out do this wonderful series. Set in Cornwall, Poldark follows the life of ex-seaman Ross Poldark as he fights through the political corruption of the day to make a better life for the working man, all the time falling ever more in love with his less that refined wife Demelza. Watching now, you may be shocked by how dated it seems, but I promise you, if you like period dramas, give it 10 minutes and you will be hooked for good.

Its such a shame how overlooked this series is, I only recently caught onto this craze and feel like I've been cheated, having not seen it earlier. The characters are so compelling you will find yourself drifting off and thinking on them. Every single character plays a part in delivering an entertaining array of vices and qualities.

If you are a period drama fan, particularly if you like Hornblower, or anything naval related, seek this out. You won't regret it.

I was a mere toddler when Poldark was first broadcast in the mid 1970s, but I am greatly enjoying catching up with this well-regarded British TV drama.
