Close to Home cancelled

Posted : 17 years ago on 16 May 2007 02:58

After just two seasons (which is not enough of this show), it looks like CBS has given "Close to Home" the axe. The good news? The show didn't end with a cliffhanger....it ended in such a way that the recent news of a cancellation doesn't really leave people hanging.

I enjoyed this show...but I am not surprised it has been cut. Maybe if it had been given a better night than Friday night at 8...who knows?

Close to Home

An excellent show, Close to Home started off strong, with a great cast. Jennifer Finnigan is a great choice for the lead actress of the show...and Christian Kane has a smaller role as her husband (for season one only).

This show has had two seasons now, both with emotional season finales. The show is done by Jerry Bruckheimer, and airs on CBS, and I can't get enough of the show, which tells the story of a crime each week --- and the resulting trial --- from the view of the prosecuting attorneys, investigators, and various other characters on the show.

Season two continued with Annabeth (Jennifer Finnigan's character) dealing with the loss of her husband---while at the same time introducing new characters to the show (David James Elliot and Jon Seda---along with Cress Williams).

I particularly like the relationship between Jennifer Finnigan's character and Bruce Davison's. They are good friends who work on opposite sides of the legal table, but through everything, they are there for each other, especially in times of tragedy.

And, the second season finale was tense, and forced Annabeth to once again deal with a major loss.....and the episode had more than one major character's life in danger.

Season two also briefly saw Jonathan Silverman (Jennifer Finnigan's fiance) added to some of the later episodes (and Eric Stoltz put in guest appearances in a few episodes at the end of the season as well) as Annabeth's boss' campaign manager.

I cannot wait to see what will happen with this show in the third season (I really hope it returns). And I hope the show becomes available on DVD soon, as I would like to re-watch season 1.
