One of the funniest and smartest shows I have seen

Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 19 August 2022 10:47

I have seen a lot of great shows and a few bad ones. Arrested Development is brilliant, at least in my view. The show is well made visually, with very nice photography and sets that don't look cheap in any way. The music is memorable, particularly the theme tune, the story lines are well-structured with any big themes executed cleverly and the writing and jokes are some of the funniest and smartest I've seen. The characters are admittedly strange, but they are also unique and have their likability too, while the acting from the whole cast is consistently top-notch and the show even uses their guest stars in a creative way. All in all, funny, smart and engaging, quite simply a brilliant show. 10/10 Bethany Cox

Best Sitcom to Date

Best comedy to date - reinvents the sitcom with a huge dose of postmodern self-awareness. The intertextuality is non-stop - there's a new show joke every episode. The characters stubbornly refuse to learn the obvious lessons the plot sets in front of them, but still manage to be lovable and recognizable. Holds up after numerous rewatchings.

Great Show... Or The Greateast Show?

Yes!!!

The good die young, as the saying goes. I was heartbroken when they finally canceled this effortlessly brilliant show. But I take consolation in the DVDs, and will keep my fingers crossed for "Arrested Development: The Movie"!

Arrested Development has that pure genius quality where the jokes are coming so fast and there is so many that you can watch it over 5 more times and catch another joke every time. The humor is quite often dry, but perfectly timed and brilliantly filmed all of the camera angles work well, and the narrator of Ron Howard is the icing on when awesome cake. Its just about the best show on television, SO WATCH IT DANGIT!

its development was arrested

I'm glad this is out on DVD, because this was canceled too early. It's fun, funny, and quotable. There are characters you can relate to (some of them in an unfortunate way), and you really want Michael to succeed in the face of... well, his family.
