Your Favorite/Most Prized DVD?

Kimi 17 years, 7 months ago at Oct 2 0:15 -
Is there a DVD in your collection that may be a favorite based on it being a favorite film or the special features offered on the disc or is there a DVD that is more prized in your collection than any other disc, because it's so rare?
Azathoth 17 years, 7 months ago at Oct 2 1:21 -
The DVD of Pig by Rozz Williams and Nico B would be number 1. Only 1334 where made. The Nekromantik DVDs are hard to come by also. I'm unsure how rare most of my other DVDs are...

My most prized DVD is Fighter in the Wind Limited Ed. because of its unique packaging plus the fact that it is signed by one of the actors and only 2000 copies were made. It is also one of my all time favorite films. :)

Great replies! If I was to base my most prized DVD on the basis of it being a favorite film, then I'd probably have hundreds, but if I chose one based on bonus features and perhaps being ever-so-slightly rare, it would be, I Drink Your Blood. It's not a good film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was given to me as a gift and it's autographed and was limited to 500 copies at the time and I received disc #496.

My most prized DVD would have to be the entire Disney Treasures collection, or my copy of Pirates of the Caribbean signed by Jerry Bruckheimer.

I have several of the Disney Treasures, but not close to all and those are wonderful collections, no doubt. The only discs I have that are signed are; I Drink Your Blood and Nail Gun Massacre, which wasalso limited to 500 copies of a signed edition by director Terry Lofton and I received disc #148.

My 'Armando Iannucci Shows' DVD. I had them on tape, but my house was broken into and my video/cd's were stolen. The fact that that tape was in the video bothered me the most. I found someone on eBay who'd made a dvd of the show, so bought it. It's since been (officially) released on DVD.

Definitely the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings movies. The amount of special features and extra footage on those are staggering.

Gamera The Box 1995-1999. Three great films, "Gamera: The Guardian of the Universe", "Gamera 2: Advent of Legion", "Gamera 3: The Revenge of Iris" are beautifully presented and two other discs full of extras.

I don't have any limited edition or signed stuff in my collection, but I treasure my 3-disc Criterion Collection edition of Terry Gilliam's Brazil. GREAT film (one of my top 5 all-time), AWESOME special features, and it even includes a copy of the studio's bastardized cut of the film which trims about 30 minutes from the run time, makes major changes to the chronological order of scenes, and has *a happy ending* (?!).

A signed copy of The Usual Suspects .... A friend of mine worked with Kevin Spacey when he first came over to the UK to play Richard II at the Old Vic, and she got him to sign my limited edition copy of it .....

I have some out-of-print (OOP) dvds that I prize. They're not particularly valuable, but they took quite a bit of patience to track down and I'd hate to have to try to replace them.

John Woo's "The Killer" and "Hard Boiled" was originally released by Fox-Lorber, then picked up by Criterion, and then discontinued and unavaible for years. ("Hard Boiled" is finally being reissued by Dragon Dynasty, but "The Killer" is still OOP.) I found the Fox-Lorber versions on eBay for under $10 each. There are *tons* of bootleg Criterion versions out there, with the official releases going for upwards of $40-$70 a piece.

I've also got a few older Jackie Chan titles that are OOP, as well. "Snake in the Eagle's Shadow", "Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin", and "Fearless Hyena", all released by Sony, but now OOP and unavailable except via bootleg.

my OOP copy of Robocop from Criterion Collection. It's a movie I love and I didn't want to buy it until I could get this copy of it, which is a little hard to find, but easier since I live near L.A.

I have hundreds of DVDs, but I love finding those rare gems that haven't been seen by many people. The one that I thought of first was a beautifully made Chinese filmed called The Road Home.

My next most prized DVD after Fighter in the Wind LE (see above) is the limited edition of 300 with Spartan helmet +art book. 300 is a great move, probably my current all-time fave. I'm glad they came up with this collector's limited edition dvd. The miniature helmet replica is really nice! Now if only I could get my hands on the one with the immortal mask... hmm...

I got this Christmas Stocking Stuffer DVD exclusive to an animation forum. It had a lot of rare animation including Grand Pop Monkey but as n Easter Egg it also had the classic banned Looney Tune short Coal Black and de Sebben Dwafs.

Also The Forgotten Films of Roscoe 'fatty' Arbuckle seems to be out of print and it was limited. This is a great set to have.

Other than that is the limited Greece DVD of the Turkish Classic 3 Dev Adam wherein Captain America and Santo, the Mexican wrestling hero, battle a serial killing Spider-man with bushy eyebrows.

Looser Than Loose just replaced a damaged Charley chase DVD and they sent a freebie, The Larger World of Laurel & Hardy Volume 6 dedicated to great James Finlayson and it has introduced me to Martha Sleeper, someone I am very interested to know, for this I am truly thankful.

Another thing is a collection of DVD-R's I have compiled of films and shows I want on DVD but not yet on them such as the films of the greatest comedy team Wheeler & Woolsey, the talkie shorts of Charley Chase and tv series like Spider-Woman, Probe, Phoenix, Outlaws and covington Cross.

Either my out of print, 3 disc, collector's edition of Oldboy, which is my favorite movie, or my 5 disc Blade Runner set, simply because it's so cool.

I got two, my Day of the Dead signed by George A. Romero and my Tenebre OOP DVD signed by the man himself, Dario Argento. I got Opera signed too, but on that one he mispelled my name. :(

it says in Italian "theres only one answer to the fury that tortured him" (from the note the killer left)

Probably my Raging Bull 2-disc SE since it's my favorite movie, Apocalypse Now since it was my first back in 2000, or my Dances With Wolves Orion out of print disc.

My most prized would have been the OOP Pulp Fiction. Sadly, though it has been lost.
