I know this thread is kind of dead, but it seems like a good one to continue if thats ok with the mods?
My favorite kinda music is Rock i guess, i prefer lead singers with a higher voice as it sounds better to me. Intricate guitar playing is a massive plus, decent drumming etc. I cant really say im a fan of R&B although i seem to like more radio music than i used to, probably from overexposure to it.
Favorite band is Coheed and Cambria, although i seem to have gone off listening to music in general lately, i barely listen to them or anything as much as i used to. But if they were to release an album tomorrow im positive id be listening to it constantly.
Least favorite band - Kaiser Chiefs, absolute pile of wank.

When people write in threads, must they really have to type "Im not asking you Nathan, dont reply" first? Cant you just take the hint instead and not reply?

love different kinds of rock and metal (but hate the new types, like nu metal, metalcore etc.)
trip hop, nu/acid jazz, classic jazz, chill out music, little bit of country (Johnny Cash!!), trip-hop, some of electronic / industrial stuff, old school ambient like Tangerine Dream, and some weird unspecified stuff like Ulver or Fantomas

@babyanni15: oh, you mean THE one sort of music they have in england?
i almost hear any sort of music, as long as it's dark, heavy, political or intelligent. of course you will not find those attributes in some genres at all, but occasionally i still get surprised. most of my favorite artists are from the genres rock, metal and punk though.

I listen to a little bit of anything that's not country or polka music. Most of my favorite music is between the 80s and 90s but there are a few songs from this past year that I really enjoyed like Quietdrive's cover to "Time After Time" or Goldfinger's cover of "99 Red Balloons".

What I was listening to in high school and college is now creeping into the classic rock zone *sob*, so by default, I like that. I also like Cajun, outlaw country, and Goddess music. I think those 4 genres cover about 95% of my music collection.

I love all types of music. Mainly Classic Rock, Jazz, and Classical. Because I'm a general music-lover, I'm very open-minded when it comes to my genres.

I like rock out of all the bands ac/dc is the one they are cool

Mostly R&B and Hip/Hop...my favourite band is however Paramore. I do like rock, especially alternative.

Good music. Mostly all sorts of metal(doom, black, death) and progressive shit, everything folkish wanking and athmospheric. Naturally artists that have some personality.

Here's my update on my music so far and some examples::

Piano- Fredric Chopin, Beethoven, with his song Piano Sonata.
Violin- Yanni.
And more classical musicians.
This is my updated list as of 5/27/09.

I like new age techno or rave music and some new rock like rise against, AVA,

classic rock, psychedelic and prog. rock; heavy metal nad metalcore; indie and alternative rock, grunge... and of course some jazz and classical music for guitar

Trance, Latin, Pop/Rock from the 50's-mid 90's, Vocal Pop, Jazz, Big Band, etc.

I love almost all genres, but I listen to country more than anything. Then it's rap, rock from the 50's and 60's, R&B, jazz... if I keep going I'm just gonna end up listing everything I listen to haha.

Most of what I listen to these days is either smooth jazz or vocal jazz. Some of my favorites include Brian Culbertson, Kurt Elling, Tony DeSare, John Pizzarelli,
Rick Braun, Euge Groove, Brian Bromberg, Darren Rahn, Warren Hill, Chris Standring, Shilts, Peter White, Paul Brown, John Proulx, Perry Danos, Richard Elliot, Kenny G & David Sanborn.

Indie music is my favorite. I find it fresher and more artistic than the mainstream stuff.
Blues and Jazz I love too. I like that sort of laid-back cool that Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk had.
