Your best excuse for skipping work?

Not that I'm fishing for reasons to not turn up to work myself, I'm just wondering what the best excuse is that you've ever come up with and consequently how many days you wrangled off because of it? During my time at university I had to think on my feet a few times to cover why I was never in lectures after a night out or thanks to general laziness/rain. My friend and I agreed that the more outrageous the excuse, the more believable it was.
One day I slept through a regular test and instead spent the rest of the day playing Empire Earth with my house mate instead of going into uni. Looking back, my excuse is pretty dire, but it went something like this:
"Well, I woke up in the morning and had a shower, then when I was brushing my teeth I dropped my toothbrush. I bent down to pick it up and on the way back up I hit the back of my head on the bottom of the sink and knocked myself out. I woke up three hours later on the bathroom floor not knowing where I was or why I was there."
That's up there with my most flamboyant excuse!

I can just imagine your tutorโs expression at hearing that one. How high were their eyebrows raised?
I really sadly have never gone far beyond the common bout of sickness, I'm just not a good liar. The fear of lying to my boss over the phone itself makes me prick with sweat and feel faint. So I almost feel less like a fraud.
I got locked inside my house for a day, as my house mate took my key. I missed lectures but was too embarrassed at my ineptitude to tell the truth that time!

My work excuses are generally lame. I go for something that sounds awful, so they don't ask questions.
Supervisor - Why have you been off the phones for nearly 40 minutes?!
Me - I was having a shit!
Supervisor - Fair enough!!!
Too stunned and disturbed to ask any more questions, whilst in reality I had just been sitting in the staff room watching sky sports news!!!
I always say something believable but a little disgusting and usually get by no questions asked. But if its someone who's opinion is valued, then I go for the more "Every time I move I throw up" shit, it works for me!
Telling them my dog was ill, and my partner was at work so I was lumbered with her for the day and couldn't get in was great, telling them the dog escaped the night before and I was up all night trying to track her down was even better!!

I don't know how ethical this is, but most women can quickly shut a male boss/professor up by claiming to be having "feminine problems".
This falls in with RB6K's strategy - believable but disgusting.

I'm a terrible liar and uttering even the smallest white lie makes me ill, so if I feel like skipping work, I guess I just have to suck it up and go in anyway. :/
