Y actors not writers?

Hello movie fans. Why do you focus so much on actors when directors writers producers matter much more? They do! Have you every seen an actor's failure kill a movie? How about the screen writer's? I constantly hear criticisms of screenplay plot director's job etc. from critics while actors are very rarely so noticed except when they are very successful. If you are subconsciously seeing the actors as the characters i can totally understand.

It might sound simple, but I honestly think people focus more on the actors because the writers/producers/directors are never on screen. General movie fans don't associate movies with those individuals. Marketing techniques will most of the time focus on the actors involved. The industry has always been like that too. That is a reason most people could tell you who Cary Grant or James Stewart are but not Alfred Hitchcock.
Also, you have to think there are two types of movie fans. There are the general fans who just go to popcorn flicks or watch movies simply to be entertained. They generally focus more on the acting for reasons stated above. Then there are the more critical cinema lovers who focus not only on acting but on everything. It takes usually a good combination of good writing, producing, directing, and acting to create art. They view movies in more depth.

So if writers directors producers had a mini clip at the end of the movie showing their faces and saying a few things movies would get a lot better?
Or is marketing that horrible indomitable force for evil? I'm new and have heard only of Hitchcock.
Do you notice how many and how highly rated the actor lists are? Maybe its like the royal wedding and celebrity worship.
More than that i have noticed how directors/../.. have similar styles and if you like one of their movies you are way more likely to like the next than if you follow actors.
Also i enjoy some books much more than most movies and that means the writers can make art all by themselves.

I think it's largely celebrity worship. Far too many people care more about what's going on with actors/actresses than they should, and mass media reinforces their interest by oversaturating the market by focusing on celebrities in magazines, TV shows, cable news and so on. Thus the actual creative forces behind movies, TV, and plays earn their recognition primarily from critics and the profits their creations acquire.
As far as Listal is concerned, I think the popularity of actor lists mostly generates from their consisting largely of pictures. If a list is entirely composed of images, then everyone around the world can look at them and get the same things from them. Clearly the image is king around here, which is why reviews rarely get more than a handful of votes and those of us who compose lists with more words than images find it harder to earn votes for our efforts. Sad really.
I'm proud to be in the minority in the world for loving the creators over the actors.

Yes the average person is crazy stupid and easily malleable by TV.
There are director lists with pictures of their movies. How well do those do? Any producer/writer lists?

Movie-wise I haven't seen any producer or writer lists I can think of, though when I made my Tarantino list I included everything he's written in addition to what he's directed. My director lists have done fairly well, though their popularity seems to depend on the popularity of the director. Hence why my Terry Gilliam list has the least amount of votes haha.
