Wii, Ps3 or Xbox360? Or stick to my PS2

Ticko 18 years, 7 months ago at Nov 21 14:18 -
Now that all "next" generation consoles are out.. You start to wonder if you should consider moving on.. With all the hype surrounding PS3 and as an owner for PS2 its sounded like the most logical upgrade.. but after reviewing the published games for the PS3 all with very low reviews on Gamespot for example compared to some new hits on the XBOX 360 and the WII also looks very promising.. maybe its time to move on to a whole new platform as well!

Wait a year. There's still plenty of games coming out for the PS2, x-box and gamecube (well, the first two). In a year most of the hardware/software bugs for the next-gen consoles should be mostly worked out (not to mention supply issues) and there'll be many more games (and more less expensive used copies of those games).

The point is that, for the moment, there's still plenty of life left in your PS2 (x-box and gamecube).

The Wii is a thing of beauty. It's a major shift in gaming consoles, and for that if no other reason it's definately worth a look. Plus it's the cheapest one out these isn't it?
Ticko 18 years, 7 months ago at Nov 22 9:53 -
Yes the Wii is reasonably priced.. compared to PS3 or Xbox 360.. I agree with coyoteblue.. stiking to th ps2 for at least 6 months more sounds like the best choice

There was a guide posted here (found via digg) seems a pretty good review of all the systems :

Whatever you do, DON'T get the PS3. It's the most expensive, and I consider not worth it.

The Wii will either take off, and forever change the video gaming world, or soar a little bit, then crash and burn.

With Coyote on this one... I'm buying a Wii when it launches over here for Zelda, but I wouldn't dream of jumping on this next generation now if it wasn't guaranteed to play all my cube games and wasn't for that single game coming out - there's nothing else I want for it yet. If it'd been Metroid, Super Smash Bros or something similar at launch, I'd probably have left it and waited till there's more decent software out otherwise. Likewise with the PS3 - one excellent game from what I gather and not a lot else that's worthwhile out there.

The Wii is an extremely refreshing addition to the gaming industry with some great new features. Most notably, the interactive remote control technology destined to make teens more active. Another plus is the ability to download legacy games from previous systems...can you say Contra?

But if you are a serious gamer, the XBOX 360 is the way to go. It is the most serious gaming system available. The graphics are off the hook and the games are way more advanced than the Wii. Notable features include, XBOX Live, compatibility with the best new mp3 player available, Zune, and downloadable DRM-free movies, that's right, the future of movie collecting has combined forces with the gaming industry.

Jason, Zune is destined to be, at best, the 2nd best mp3 player... behind the iPod, of course. I haven't heard many positive things about the Zune but people are destined to buy it because it's from Microsoft.

Just about every review I've read of the zune has panned it; not on the hardware level, but rather that microsoft designed it for the RIAA and record studios, but not its customers. And then there's the playforsure debacle. The feeling is that it's going to tank big time, unless microsoft tells the RIAA to screw off and does the right thing(s). Mostly good hardware, baaaad software.

Ok i've Decdied on the XBOX 360 for the follwing reasons:

Some Top Rated games are only avillable NOW on the Xbox 360 like
Gears of War, Halo3, halflife2, Fear. some will be for PS3 some will never be.

Its Pricing is acceptable compared to the PS3 soraing prices.

I guess it makes more sense then PS3..

I want the Wii, but I can't find it anywhere. Maybe after the holidays.

This is coming from a full-time PC gamer for last 10 years. I think last system I have was original nintendo. Friends gave me their used PS One systems, and an old Xbox system, and i tried them for a day and got rid of them. I tried Xbox 360 and PS2 at friends house and they bored me too. Yet something about the Wii draws me to console gaming.

I'm not an xbox fanboy or anything, but the xbox live service is leaps and bounds over any other systems online play. I've yet to try the Wii, but I think it would be an entertaining 2nd gaming console.

Can Wii play Game Cube games? My GC broke and instead of replacing it I could just put the money toward a Wii. The shame is though that I was one of those that imported a Panasonic-Q GC/DVD player from Japan. It is a thing of beauty but the disc tray will not slide out. I would want all systems but i am a bit removed, my unfinished owned PS2 games are many in number and i still have to get FFXII and Persona 3 so I think I will be busy with that but Wii may be unique enough to get on its own plus the ability to play a number of games I already own.
Phil 18 years, 6 months ago at Dec 13 13:09 -
Yeah, it can. Haven't seen it yet, but sounds like the console being able to load both cube and wii sized discs through a slot load drive is a thing of beauty!

I would honestly wait. I don't think the Wii is that great yet.

LOL! Nice, Giga.

Seriously though, don't get a PS3, it's a waste of money.

The Wii is actually an awesome system, there just aren't enough games out for it right now. But considering the fact that not only is it a Wii, but it is also a Gamecube, an N64, a SNES, and a NES (I think). You can download like every Nintendo game ever made.

Sure it costs, but even paying $200 for a Wii+Gamecube is a good deal.

The 360 has a ton of good games, including some Xbox ones.

if u compare the ps3 n the Xbox..the differences arent many..the only great diff..u'll have is the price..
ps3 contains blueray dvd..and xbox..Hd DVD..
so..forget both of em..n get the Wii!
peace
DefenderOfKnowledge 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 18:01 -
360 is awesome, Wii is probably gonna be better, PS3 is a waste of space.
Sarosh© 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 18:33 -
yea u r rite..Xbox cud b the best one :)if compared to ps3!
nuhtin could b said bout Wii..
DefenderOfKnowledge 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 19:52 -
What? That's not what I said at all. I said that the 360 is really good, the Wii will probably be better once more games come out, and the PS3 is fecal matter.
Sarosh© 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 21:28 -

From what I understand, you said that the Xbox is only good when compared to the PS3, and that the Wii is bad? It's really hard to understand you.

Do IIIIIII know English???? YOU are the one asking this?
tartan_skirt 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 22:41 -
Yeh, I have to say I was confused by your typing too...

I'm staying away from all the new consoles, and I've never even had a regular PlayStation in the past. :P But I have to say that I never knew the Wii could play GameCube games too! That sounds groovy, but I think I'll stick to GameCube since I don't buy (or even like) a lot of new console games. (Though I don't like missing out on nice new Mario games.)

*hugs game retro systems and PC*
DefenderOfKnowledge 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 20 22:54 -
Retro systems own. Nothing can top the classics.

I was thinking though, imagine wireless dance pads, for DDRon the 360. Pretty crazy.
Sarosh© 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 21 7:03 -
dude..whnever we talk bout XBOX..or Ps3..we always compare them to each other..
so i said nuthin much but, that if compared to Xbox 360..ps3 is not much good..and as u said earlier a waste of money..
as far as Wii is concerned..i said..nuthin could be said bout it..as not many games have been introduced..i never took it negative that Wii aint good..
Peace..
Sorry if it was hard understanding me..
DefenderOfKnowledge 18 years, 2 months ago at Apr 21 9:58 -

I'll stick with my Xbox 360 for now. Nothing really impressed me yet on PS3. I still miss the days of the 8-bits and the playability that they had. Also those C64 tunes!!! wow do I miss those.....Turrican lives forever.
