Why not allow lists to contain different types of things?

On several occasions, I've wanted to add a movie to a list, but found out it's technically a TV movie, and thus I'm unable to do so.

I believe it'd be much more convenient to allow lists to contain different types of things.

You're not the only one. There are so many possibilities!

Allowing multiple types also brings up all kinds of technical and usability issues, e.g. where ever there is a dropdown to add to a list I would have to display ALL lists not just ones for that area.

I think I will allow adding tv shows to movie lists though because they are both in the same database, the others (books, music, games, dvds) are in separate databases.
