15 years, 1 month ago at Apr 7 21:31 - I was trying to change my avatar for listal and it didn't show the "make this your avatar" ,or whatever its called, link. Where'd it go? Has it been deleted?

14 years, 10 months ago at Jun 30 17:51 - i'm sorry but, what is an avatar---and how can i set in image for my profile? i was unsucessful a couple of hours ago. i just don't know--where do i find images with a jpg---duh i'm so ignorant--

14 years, 10 months ago at Jul 13 15:41 - Audrey, I've seen in a few different threads that you've had some difficulty setting your avatar. An avatar is the picture you choose to represent you; it displays here in the forums, on comments you make, on your profile, etc. For example, my avatar is the picture under my username here (the black and white spiral staircase), while Tom's is that beautiful island shown above.
Find an image on your computer (jpeg, gif or png files only), or, if you have none, find an image you like on the internet and save it to your computer. For demonstrative purposes, I'll include a picture here in this post and see if you can save it and then display it as your avatar:
* Right click on the image and select "save image as".
* You can rename it where it allows you to change the file name, or keep the name as is and save it to an appropriate folder on your computer (example: my documents, my pictures).
* Go to your profile.
* At the top of your profile next to your name, click on the gray square that says "upload a picture". This is where your profile pictures are "stored" once you upload them.
* Click on the blue link that says "post an image".
* Click on the "browse" button that allows you to choose an image from your computer. Select the picture of the kitten you just saved to your computer.
* Once the picture is uploaded, click on it. At the bottom, underneath the comment section, is a blue bar that says "Make this the primary/profile image for My profile". Click on that link and then select "yes".
You should now have a profile picture. :)
