I've finished Ultraman, which I thought was good, and am now on Super Robot Red Baron, which is really quite great. Red Baron was made about six or seven years later than Ultraman so maybe Japanese studios had some time to develop the concept of the kaiju eiga TV series... Or maybe it's just the show's unique premise and camp appeal.
Now that's what I call a niche interest!
