{shrug}

I was surprised, too.

I don't think he's *the* most popular author in the world, though! ;-p

I like Steve :) Hmm... who would you consider the most popular author in the world, if not Stephen King? He's definately up there.

J.K. rowling is probably the most popular author of current times.

On this site she is first of the most listed authors and Steven King is second.

Well... most popular for current times, but not all time. Actually, if you want to get really technical, the most popular author of all times is probably the guys who wrote the bible or something like that. ;)

I know - I've been looking for it in paperback for ages. Anyone know the release date for it?

Oh, I don't dispute that - he's certainly among the top, both in terms of popularity and quality. But *the* most popular? Probably not. But then, I don't think any one author can dominate these days.

I do love the King's books, though (mostly), and he's certainly my favourite horror writer :-)

I would say he's one of the most famous, best-selling, most popular authors of all time. He's famous in a bunch of countries and is a millionaire a bazillion times over.

Mentioning the bible in comparasion is just splitting hairs.

Hey, I agree! I'm the one who was questioning who else was more famous than King.

The only Stephen King book i've ever read was Misery. Awesome book though.

Great book, and one of the rare ones to get a damned good film adaptation, too.
