What Makes You Vote?

I was just curious as to what people take into account when they vote for a review.
Personally, I vote for a review if I agree with what was said, or if they said something that was particularly interesting.
I'm just asking because on more than one occasion people have voted for something, and then left comments saying they disagreed with me, or commented to correct me on things. It just got me wondering why they voted in the first place.

I don't always vote just because I agree. Sometimes, i disagree, but vote because it's either (a) a well written in depth review, or (b) funny, or (c) makes me interested in the seeing a movie I'd normally pass on.

The biggest thing, for me, is whether the review is actually *useful*; I'm always looking for ones that will tell me something about whatever it is under review, and *why* the reviewer likes or dislikes it - their opinion, as a simple like or dislike, is of little interest (would *you* rush out to buy something on the opinion of someone you know nothing about? Or visa versa). Other than that, Prelude's conditions also apply to me, but, sometimes, I do vote for something just because I agree with it; usually because the thought was encapsulated in a particularly witty or incisive post.
I'm not sure if my own reviews live up to what I'd look for in others', though.

I'd have to say the same about myself.

I usually vote on a review if I agree with it.
It also helps a whole lot if it is well written and funny.

i also always vote on my own reviews too, because i'm an ego-maniac. lol

I have trouble finding reviews other than the most recently posted ones. I suppose I'll vote if I enjoyed reading it. I agree that reviews should be accurate in their criticism, but I always appreciate it if the review was eaten up pretty painlessly. It can be a long review, as well.

Maybe there should be a seperate section on listal, 'top voted reviews', that shows all reviews from all sections, sorted by most votes. :)
it might showcase all the best ones on here, even older ones.

I'm relieved to hear other people do that as well! :P
