What about duplication?

How to deal with the problem of double posting pictures?
I think that's a big problem since every now a then I find the exact same picture two, three or four times while searching. Everytime I try to report it, but it's very hard to put all in order when there's more than a thousand pictures.
It also happens when someone uploads a picture already uploaded, but with higher resolution. The best pictures should stay, regardless of how old the other one is.
Does anyone have an idea?
I thought about a section with all the pictures reported as duplicated, so everybody could see report them more easily. When the picture reach a certain number of reports it would be excluded automatically.
I know it has some issues with votes and points, that's why I would like to know what other people think.
I would also like to list here three duplicated profiles that I found:
1. Hilary Duff
www.listal.com/hilary-duff (correct)
www.listal.com/hillary-duff (wrong name)
2. Jessica Gomes
www.listal.com/jessica-gomes (correct)
www.listal.com/jessica-gomez (wrong name)
3. Lauren Budd
www.listal.com/lauren-budd (real name)
www.listal.com/violet-budd (artistic name)
Hilary/Jessica's wrongs profiles should be merged, since they have more then 300 and more then 500 pictures each, respectivily, but it may creat more then 300 duplicated pictures.
Lauren's wrong profile has just 9 pictures, so it will be easy.

I agree that it is very annoying. Personally I try to report all the duplicates I can find, but it is a problem when it is around 500 pictures on the profile. I think people should report the other picture if they upload a picture with much better quality or delete their own when they see that they have uploaded the same picture. But it doesn't really look like most people do that, or else I shouldn't have so many reports a day..

Another way:
A message could be sent to the poster automatically by the site when the picture gets 5 or 10 (some number) of reports. That way the user has the chance to delete the picture himself. I'm pretty sure a lot of people uploads pictures that are already on the site because they don't know it. It's fair, since sometimes there's more the 2,000 pictures.

I would imagine (not meaning to criticize) that many listal image posters don't bother with worrying about double-posting. Going through a list of 500, 1000, or 10000 pics looking for pics you think are not being duplicated can be a huge task. I would also imagine that someone like Candice Swanepoel and her 10000 pictures have many, many repeats.
I'm glad someone else pointed out the "Hillary" Duff problem as I discovered that one today (I was amazed that she had so few votes for her various pictures, then realized it was a second name entry.)
Whenever I want to post images, I go through the pic list, or post pics then go through to see if I've posted repeats. This is why I'd like a little better interface when deleting posted pictures.
On Edit: perhaps you could add actor/actress sorting based on file size and/or image dimensions

The benefits from the lack of double posted pictures do not justify the effort, that is too much by the way. I see. I think that if there was a way to deal with it easily, more people would be engaged in the effort. But it would have to be very easy.
I browse among 3000+ pictures sometimes, and it's a pain to report all duplicated ones, it's a huge task, as you said. More annoying is to search for the pictures you want to post, as they may not be close to each other. That's why I created this topic. If there was a efficient way to detect double post, you wouldn't have to search before posting. You would just post it and anytime someone would detect and the pictures would be deleted.

There are many programs that automatically detect duplicate images. I like Visual Similarity Duplicate Image Finder. But they would have to run on the server side.
