My 3 favorite genres...

Horror, Mystery, Fantasy, Crime, Sci Fi occassionally,
But more in depth, for Horror, I like the psychological ones, but there aren't that many of what I'm thinking of, where it's sorta like the 'thing' doesn't actually kill them, it terrifies them so much they kill themselves(from commiting suicide to falling down a few flights of stairs, to running straight out on a street and getting run over, etc etc), but I also like the gruesome supernatural ones,
for fantasy, I only like light fantasy, I don't want it to into fantasy, but just skimming the surface, like vampires perhaps, I like the darker side of fantasy rather then the normal medieval or sci fi kinda ones,
Sci Fi generally gets paired with Horror on most occassions, but I do like normal sci fi, but I'm to random in that genre, for instance I might read one book by an author, read another by them and absolutely hate it, or find a book that is basically exactly like another I read, and love that one but hate the other
Mystery also usually is paired with Horror, or crime, so I'll put crime and mystery together, I kinda like the ones where the criminal is like, extremely dangerous, but he gets caught quite a few times, but always manages to escape in some way... best reference I can think of that most people have heard of would be Hannibal Lecter because he manages to escape, but I also like the ones where a trail is left purposely so the reader can try and predict what happens, and then it twists and the prediction is totally wrong
basically, I like books that keep you in it and don't let you guess what's gunna happen, lots of twists, mostly dark topics, various plots underlaying eachother, the kind of books where you find at least one word you don't know, and they may have a part that is confusing and has to be read over once or twice
but those are my main genres, I read a lot of other stuff too
More in depth, I liked the Warriors Series, the Cirque Du Freak Series, I'm getting into Demonata series, I plan on seeing what the fuss is about on the Twilight Series, as soon as I get the 2nd book, and I really liked Jinn, simple, but it had lots of twists, but the twists didn't confuse you, and it had lots of killing

Science-fiction at the moment. It's just so easily digestible and easy to fall in love with. Sci-fi that centres on dystopias and cyberpunk futures just give me an instant rush, even though some of the ideas can get played out very quickly.
Any Hard-boiled fiction gets me going though. I guess I try and check out my fair share of classics as well, I think they're a genre all on their own.

Most people like to read crappy books such as Da Vinci Code (and praise them).
Oh wait. What I like to read?
- Dystopia
- Dirty realism of persons using psychoactive substances
- Daring and unique books
I'm into these at the moment.
At the moment I'm reading and ejoying Tove Jansons Moominvalley in November which is basicly a children's novel but has some deeper touch.

I enjoy science fiction books mostly. ones that usually document humanity being its own worst enemy! Dystopia is also nice as well as the odd non fiction popular science read.
I HATE Dan Brown and sword-and-sorcery types. So so boring and unchallenging.

I'm really into Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Classics at the moment. Reading Frank Herbert's Dune right now.

Non-fiction, survival, how-to guides and a little history

Greco-Roman mythology. I really want to learn and be able to read Latin once I get done with this community college where it's not offered and go to the city university. If I can find a reasonable way to learn Greek and Olde English as well at some point, I'd like to do those, but Latin's my top priority for right now.
I'm trying to get into other mythologies as well. Oh, and I'd like to read historical literature from America's early years - an account describing and condemning the Native American genocide, documents by revolutionaries, personal accounts of the earliest settlers, etc.
