Using otherones pictures in your list should mean a vote

In Listal it's possible to use pictures in your List that someone else has uploaded. I think it'd would be fair if that would mean that the pic that's used gets voted on automatically.

So if I use your pic in my list, your pic gets an extra vote.

After all, the pic isn't used for nothing, but because it's liked. In many cases people use otherones pics but don't give the vote.

I don't think a vote should be compulsory. Sorry...

I mean, how many times I had a positive comment on a review or a list but no votes ? Countless...

Or even better, I have some lists with 10.000 of views but not so many votes....

People should vote when they feel like it. That's the beauty of the system.

I respect your opinion.

Nevertheless, in my opinion it's the beauty of the system to show that you like something.
If you've viewed a pic, it doesn't have to mean you really like it. If you use the pic it does mean that you like it.

There's a big difference between viewing something or using something.

I agree with johanlefourbe.

Besides, every time I use a pic in a list it doesn't mean I actually like the picture. I have over 50 fashion lists and I don't think those red carpet pictures are deserving of votes but they fulfill the need I have.

I think it's just up to the list creator to use their judgement to vote for images that deserve a vote. Some people vote for everything while others only vote for truly beautiful or interesting pics to them.

I agree, I think they should add a vote but the majority of the people on here don't vote, just look. I have seen many incredible pictures with 10000+ views and 30 or less votes. I vote very often,I want to acknowledge the efforts of a good find. List or picture, I want you to know I liked it. Maybe they should give 1/3 of a point for voting. If anyone is obsessed with points that might help. I don't much care where I rank, I like this site for visual enjoyment. I never did understand some of the ones I see, so many views, that few vote for. Does not cost anything or take away points. How hard is it to hit the vote button? I have seen many of my pics used without votes, you would think it would be a courtesy but it is ok with me.

I may have missed voting for a pic that I used in a favorite list. That's my bad. If I'm using a picture that I'm putting into a fav list, it stands to reason that I would vote for the picture. However, there are situations (and lists) where you might use a picture for the list but not vote for the picture itself. I don't think using a picture on a list should automatically translate into a vote for the pic.

Late as it is, my two cents: I always vote for a pic that I use in one of my lists. After that, if someone is looking at my list, they're also looking at that other person's picture and have every opportunity to click on it and vote for themselves. Like johanlefourbe says, 10,000 views means 10,000 views of every pic, too. That's a lot of opportunity to vote for a pic as well.

Everytime I uses a pic for my list, first I vote for the one who upload it.He desereve it!
If I don't like a pic - I won't put it in any of my lists.
I don't like automatic reactions...

There are many times when I use an image in a list but I'm not going to give votes to frequent reposters or spammers who are a nuisance to us all. If I spend all my time reporting their reposts why should they get a vote just because they got the chance to post the picture before I did for whatever reason. I usually vote for the people who deserve it and I vote for newer images. As sad as it is to say many people have used my images without voting so I feel that I can do the same.

To add my cents as well - I have noticed when a picture goes on a list, while it may not have been voted by that list maker, it certainly has had an increase in exposure, allowing for plenty of opportunity for others to vote and those pictures on lists usually get more votes.

So don't get upset if those don't vote, they are essentially still giving votes

I vote for a picture so it can go to the first page. Votes are for ranking to me. And when I use pictures I don't necessarily like them, it's just... use. Besides, as Stehako said, using the picture on a list increses the chance for it to get votes.

I've been thinking about what Jim said, though. Here's right. The top picture, the one of Scarlett Johansson, has 142 votes and more than 8 thousands views. Not even 2% of the people that viewed that picture voted for it. And that's, lets say, the best picture on Listal. The second one is worse, 95 votes for 11542 views, not even 1%. The other ones are in a similar situation.

I think it happens for two reasons:

1. Votes are permanent. If you voted for something it's voted forever, so you have to think about duplicated pictures (well, I do), at least.
2. It gives points to the one that upload. The ones who cares about ranking may think twice before giving a vote, even for a picture they really like.

Personally I don't have any problems with the percentage of people that vote compared to the one that just look, maybe that's just reality, but I do when I search for pictures and I see a lot of good pitures without votes among a lot of bad ones.

Maybe votes for pictures should not be converted into points at all and we should be able to unvote. Then maybe we get a great way to separate the good pictures from the bad, 'cause it doesn't exist right now.
