Use a new database

Currently, while I'm looking through CDs, games and DVDs I see a lot of inconsistensy. For example, games have shortened names or missing images, or even have stuff like "(GAMECUBE VERSION)" after the name. Same applies for other categories (do a Music artist search for "dEUS", it's spelled everywhere like "Deus", while it shouldn't). I also saw some albums "released in 2005" while they were from around 1994.

Why not create a brand new, clean database which relies on the wiki-principle: everyone can edit and add and there are strict guidelines for the submitted data. It will allow better, more accurate and more information per item.

[Link removed - login to see] already uses a similar principle (maybe get Music data from there?) and it seems to work splendid. The good thing is you can correct stuff that's wrong or needs an update.

I'm asking much, but this is a splendid site, why not give it a splendid backend? :)

I agree totally, and I really hope that the very talented developer(s) of this site starts working on an editable database ala Wikipedia. I love the skins, and everything about the site, except that you can't edit the DVD/Book/CD/Game information.

It has been planned but is quite a lot of work to do right but hopefully in the next few months.
