ok, i'm re-organizing the popular IMDB Top250 list I've made here at listal, and adding new movies and moving around on the 250 film list is actually half decent (thanks to your complete re-work of custom lists) but I'd LOVE to see the 'delete' bar where you drag films into to be both at top AND bottom. As i'm adding and moving films around, I'll be left with probably 20+ films at the end of the 250 list and dragging them one by one to the top just to delete them, we'll, if I start that tonight, i'd be done in 3 weeks LOL

please save my sanity and add a delete bar at the bottom as well. thanks

update: done updating my list, the first 250 entries are correct order, and everything 251+ needs to be deleted, but i don't feel like dragging all of those items to the top of this massive list

Whaat?! It's only 20 items. Working long lists is a pain, but it really only takes a few minutes to remove 20 items from the bottom of a list. After compiling and re-ordering a list of 250 titles...

But yes, a delete bar at the bottom would be nice.

Would't it be more usefull to have a small delete column on the right!?

By the side of the list? That's pure genius!

Dale, do you have a 250 item list before you care to comment on this? dragging an item is super slow as page loading is slow, each item has to be moved a total of 6 times (from bottom of my screen to top), and each time causes all other items to shift over. a real f'in' pain, TRUST ME. doing 20 like that would honestly take me over 1 hour of draggin'n'droppin, which is not worth it.

Nope. 162 items is the longest list I have (private list...). It took me about 4 minutes to move 20 items to the top of the list. Each item doesn't have to be moved 6 times, the trick is to hold left mouse key down, while moving the page with the scroller or an arrow (I think, at least, I use the touch pad on my laptop) Now I have to move the items back down again...

thanks for the tip, dale. the scroller didnt work, but pgup and pgdn worked while holding down left button.

list is updated to 250 entries. glad to see shrek drop out of the list, but still bummed there's so many pixar animated films that are considered 'Top 250 movies ever made'. what a shame. especially that junk-fest ratatouille is the highest rated cartoon on the list. i'm gonna vomit.

And Grindhouse dropped a lot, but still in the list. Many great films on the list, but some are mind-blowing how they could be rated so highly.

How can you guys think this system will ever be fully convenient unless there's a delete area on the side? I have a labtop to deal with myself. Sorry but Listal can't help IMDB's taste in film.

Sure we can! By voting. I'm partially to blame for about 150 placings on that list. I had nothing to do with Ratatouille, I promise, but I gave Hero 10/10.

When I updated the list, I did notice that apart from a few big hits this past year like American Gangster, 3:10 to Yuma, No Country for Old Men, and There Will be Blood - all of which deserve to enter the top 250 list, there was also a few classics that squeaked up into the list as well, probably about 15 new classics in that list. So i think the list is improving, just still can't explain the fascination of cartoons being rated so highly. it's a flippin' cartoon, people! lol yeah it's good and may be well made and funny, but there is ZERO acting and ZERO 'directing' that goes into those films, so to join ranks (and sometimes beat) films like Wrath of God, or Hero, or in the case of Ratatouille, to edge out ahead of 'Bicycle Thief', well, i feel like making a dozen fakes acocunts at IMDB and going on a mission to clean up their list. lol

To be fair, there's a lot of directing in an animated film (or TV show!) - lighting, camera angles, design choices and how a character moves are all decisions made by the director of the film, particularly in the digital/3D world.

it doesnt hurt to leave it there, just in case people are used to the old way

The delete bar truly doesn't hurt. If there were a way of grabbing a whole row at a time or something, it'd be much more useful. We need to have checkmarks or highlighting of some sort that allows for moving multiple items at once. I'm afraid we as members haven't even touched upon the relative potential of the listing system.
