Updating custom list notes

In preparation for other list updates, I am currently in the process of automatically updating all custom list notes on the site.

The main purpose of this update is to locally host all external images on listal

As you can see the code is much more compact and the image is now hosted locally which has the advantage of:

- Not disappearing or being removed by a image host (due to too much bandwidth use or other reasons)
- The image can now be resized by changing the width value
- It will be possible to set one of these images as the thumbnail for the list. (coming soon)
- Other people will be able to click on a image and share or add to another list


Please let me know if you spot any problems, an automated is script is still in the process of updating 100's of thousands of notes so not all are updated yet.

Could be a good criteria to use for finding related lists--they not only contain the same item but use the same image or video for the item.

Yep, possibily to generate automatically or people can click on the images to see other lists they are used in.

1) I've been going back to some of my lists and editing the description images so that they stand alone, rather than clutter up my personal images page. I noticed that using the out-of-site image coding in a note's description doesn't do the same thing. This isn't so bad because I can simply cut/paste a link from a note to the description.

2) Also, do posting images in this way give a user points like it would if you uploaded it to your personal images or an item page?

since i just looked into it, i can answer number two for you. yes, posting images in that way gives you points as normal. i occasionally link to images from my website. i just did so for a couple pics and got points for each one. so, yup. pics uploaded in any form seem to equate to points.

Thanks ape. I noticed that I was receiving points for my note images after I made that post, but I didn't feel like posting again because it would look like I was talking to myself... Which hasn't really stopped me before, I guess...

How do I add a note to one of my lists?

Just view the list and add edit note next to each item
