Why not make these into lists?
pufred 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 9 0:41 -
Cause I want other people's lists in reply. It's easier to watch a forumthread than go through 20-30 lists. I'm doing every year from 2000-2008
Shaun 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 10 18:15 -
Yeah but you're pushing out all the other issues and threads that people want to read and respond to.
Shaun 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 10 18:16 -
And besides you get more points and potential vote points if you create lists.
Landon Sullivan 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 11 2:37 -
I'm going to call you Mr. Spammy...
Shaun 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 11 18:27 -
Who, me?
pufred 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 12 16:30 -
On every other filmforum they have a forum for lists. It takes shorter time to write a list here than go through every film here on listal and add it to a list that nobody respond to with another list anyway. And almost every other thread here you can argue against with the same thing. What jamesBondmovies do you like...make a list!!
I don't see the point of having a forum unless you want other peoples responses or opinions on a question or a list.
My list is my opinion, it's a list and it's a question to you out there to respond with your list and your opinion.
What's the fuzz?
Kristian 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 12 17:01 -
Yeah, but why don't you just make a list out of these topics?
Like someone said before, you get more points, especially when someone votes one your list. When someone votes on ypur list, they either agree with you or they just think that the list itself is pretty genius and they want to make one for themself!

I think it's better to make list and hopefully get votes :)
Landon Sullivan 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 12 19:13 -
No, not you... the guy who made all 9 of these threads...
Shaun 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 12 19:24 -
Ah okay. Well the more we comment on this the more these needless threads will stay near the top of the list.
pufred 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 12 19:56 -
I'm not interested in points. And a vote for a list doesn't mean anything to me. I don't know their top-10 if they give me a vote.
I'm doing statistics on this on several different forums which films who are regarded as "top-notch" of the year. And it differs on every forum. Also I've had responses in form of lists, instead of questions why I waste such valuable threadtime. If you're not interested in the subjects matter - Your top-10 of that particular year- just ignore me.

pufred: Why do you have to know about their favorites...
If you are so damn interest, why don't you just go to a profile and check their list - "My favorie films/movies" My favorite movies of all time" etc...?

schwarzerabt: "Inglourious Basterds" and "Star Trek", i definately agree with you, but "Watchmen" and "Public Enemies"?
SchwarzerAbt 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 14 17:55 -
@ Kris:

Well, altogether I have only seen 5 movies that came out this year so far. That narrowed down the selection a little bit. Watchmen surprised me as I didn't expect too much from a Zack Snyder movie (and the IMDb-rating is 7.9, so apparently I am not alone with my opinion).
Public Enemies I find hard to judge. I thought it was great when I came out of the movie but when I think about it now it is only mediocre, compared to Michael Mann's earlier movies. But it's still not a bad movie at all.

Why did you think they were so bad?
Kristian 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 14 18:05 -
Well, I don't think they sucked or were really bad, but i DO actually think they are overrated! Much of it could be the expectations i had before i saw them.
Especially Public Enemies...

When it comes to Watchmen the special effects is definately good, but the film itself isn't better than just a middle rating (Somwhere between 5-6/10).

When it comes to Public Enemies it didn't really cath me as for instance collateral did. The acting is OK, but i don't get into them. I'm beeing a bystader, which i don't think characters of films should do with me. I want to be told a story (good plotoutline) or just beeing carried away with the film (Neverminding the plot, such as, for instance, "Shoot 'Em Up" & "Wanted")...
Btw: Waht about the sound (when their where fireing with the weapons)? I thought i was gonna lose my ears! Too goddamn loud...
SchwarzerAbt 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 14 18:27 -
Damn, I almost finished my comment and than the my browser collapsed... So, once again:

I liked the story of Watchmen. Especially the characters, that gave a new twist on the superhero genre (probably more the achievement of the cartoon, but I hadn't read it and so the movie entertained me). I also liked the soundtrack a lot. Sure the movie had its lenghts but that didn't push me off.

I agree with your points on Public Enemies. It is a perfectly executed movie. But although the plot itself is interesting you are always kept at a distance. This is as you say a character problem. Dillinger is portraied too silky - you don't really understand him or his emotions (if he has any). I think it would have been nice to see more of his motives and what drives him.

So, yeah. They are both good movies but there are certainly better ones out there this year. I just haven't been around to watch them.
pufred 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 14 22:36 -
Thank you Schwarzerabt!! Perfect! That's how it should have been done!!
Even some pleasant surprises:)
Kristian 14 years, 8 months ago at Sep 15 8:51 -
schwarzerabt: Well, the internet can be a bitch xD

Ah... You didn't have to much expectations either, so maybe you like it better just because of that. Maybe... :P
