Too much Garbage..

I have the mature filter on, yet I still see tons of garbage ("porn") in the "global feed"...if there's a way I can NOT see these.. that'd be more enjoyable. Without having to "avoid" the global feed..anybody should be able to view it.
Any advice/thoughts moderators?

Mmm, well I was avoid making comments for a number of reason... mainly I'm not a moderator so it would be interesting to hear what the actual moderators think.
A possible solution would be a 'blanket mature filter' on some of the profiles, mainly those of the adult entertainment stars. I was also surprised that I was seeing the cover of porn movies... something I thought was turn off with mature filter. Yes... I know about the cute little black bar or 'fuzzy area' but I think that just silly.
With the release of the 'mature content filter' it just seems like there is a spike in the amount of 'questionable material' being uploaded. I don't really have an interest in trudging through and marking 200+ images as 'mature content'.
It might also be handy if a person was able to set in their profile that all images they upload be marked as 'mature content' instead of having to mark each one as they were uploading.

Well first of all no porn is allowed on this site, although it depends of your definition of porn, for this site it means no pictures with exposed private parts. This restriction might be extended to overly sexually suggestive pictures (although this will have problems as this is very subjective)
The mature content filter can only be set on lists at the moment, mainly because lists have prominence on this site (front page promotion etc...). There is no mature content setting for images.
Unfortuantly the mature content filter does not cover the update feed at the moment it will only cover pages that list lists.
I am hoping to get something like this done and excluding adult tiles from searches by default.

Yea I know it'd be impossible to even bother looking through all the pictures, lists etc. Just curious as to what you're responses are/were.

I was about to start a new thread with the idea, but the obvious solution for this is to give each member control over what appears on the global feed. All you have to do is allow members to 'close' lists that are inappropriate for them so that they disappear from the global feed and do not appear on subsequent promotions.
Also, you could (and really should!) give members the option to block particular users' lists from appearing on your global feed full stop, considering some members only post lists which are variations upon a theme, or cannibalised from another site. I for one know I'd love to see an end of these 'evolution of...' lists which keep appearing on my feed for example.

Dig GA's idea, esp. since you could use it to simply help streamline what you're seeing on the global feed, too.

Yea Grand's idea is quite great

The problem is it would make the display of that page slower, especially if the site grows and more and more people are added to the hidden list.

Would it be possible to give a 'dashboard' type option for uses to set as their home page. Just as you can move around elements on your profile page, you could move around elements in the dash board.
From time to time I just fully ignore the main page and click on "Contacts" feed. Which up until today I didn't realize that you could sort! Ha! It is extremely helpful just to be able to sort through only the reviews of people I follow.
Each of those areas has an RSS feed. That might be a possibility.
Or if your feeling super anti-social could just set up Google Reader with those RSS feeds. The things that I find that don't show up is when a list gets promoted (kind of nice to know when a friends list hits the front page) and forum postings. There still isn't some type of feed for forum activity.
