Thoughts About E3 2013

DuckNation 10 years, 11 months ago at Jun 11 7:26 -
So yesterday was the first day of E3 and im just wondering what you guys here thought of it who do you think won. I personally thought Sony won by a land slide no always online, no region locking, not banning used games, oh yah it's also only $400USD (ยฃ349/โ‚ฌ399).

Though you can't have a perfect reveal that's impossible this time around Sony only a few minor set backs. I'm seeing that the ps4 will not work with non HDTV's maybe they will come out with an adapter or something later. The next one is that you will need to pay $5 per month for PS PLUS also that you WILL NEED PS PLUS to be able to do multiplayer for the ps4 the thing that Microsoft is doing this now. Only thing that sets this apart from MS is that with PS PLUS you get free games and they update with new ones every month DRIVE CLUB for ps4 is going to be Free for PS PLUS members to DL day one so that's great also discounted prices on some other content still for only $60 a year that sounds like a great deal.

During Sonyโ€™s E3 press conference, Jack Tretton revealed that there are more than 140 games in development for the PlayStation 4. The titles will be a mixture between first and third-party releases and include games such as: The Witness, Gran Turismo 6, Killzone: Shadowfall, Driveclub and inFamous: Second Son.

SCE Worldwide Studios is working on 30 games and will release 20 of those in the first 12 months. Tretton said that there will be over 100 games available in the first year.

EA's Conference was boring sports sports and more sports yes one was fifa but come on. The UFC trailer was weak and it was a let down. Battlefield 4 looked crazy the gameplay with the players was scripted to hell but overall i thought the multiplayer looked amazing i mean that skyscraper at the end falling over was pure insanity. I thought it was a bit short it was less then 7 minutes was i hoping for at least 10-15 minutes.

Ubisoft was a complete failure that conference was hard to watch simple as that

I leave you with this

Only caught a few pieces of it (xbox section). Just seemed like a bunch of corporate types shoveling products they themselves wouldn't use. Maybe part of it was the arena setting that put me off. I like the face to face layout of cons where you can shake hands with the developers and try stuff out. At least that way you can go to a different booth or panel instead of sitting through something uninteresting (sports games for one).

Haven't read into it too much, but if xbox does lock in their games so it's difficult to sell them second hand, it could hurt them. With PC's we expect to be stuck with a game after buying it. With consoles we still expect the games to hold some value if we decide to sell them a few months later.

I can't comment on Xbox's side, but I have to say Sony surprised me with Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III in the making.

Seriously, Sony blew me away... if I have the money I might buy a PlayStation 4 as soon as I can to support it.

Bur seriously, I'm just so happy that the non-chain store I visit will have something to sell and avoid having to close it's doors... that probably would have happened at a later point in the future if both companies did the DRM thing.

And sorry Microsoft... Killer Instinct is not enough to make me interested in your console - especially with this "buying characters seperately" thing. Killer Instinct 2/Gold sucked anyway. I'm really fine with playing the original on the SNES.

Almost cried seeing Kingdom Hearts III, not gonna lie. That was the last thing I was expecting. That and FFXV look absolutely amazing.

PS4 looks decent, I don't usually buy new consoles at their release price so the initial prices don't bother me at all, but it feels like it has enough potential to be worth getting. Most of the stuff that made Sony look so good was just Microsoft looking terrible earlier. I can't believe Microsoft said they were the most supportive console of indie games! So Sony's deal to let indie developers self-publish, plus showing off quite a few indie games that will be on the console, was impressive. M$ had one indie preview which looked neat but not enough to buy such a bad piece of equipment.

Besides Square Enix (and Ninetndo's new Smash Bros game but I don't have a Nintendo console so *shrug*, I wasn't really super excited for any other games. Some looked cool enough to try after price drops.
