"this is gay"

If you're going to make message board posts worth points, then could we at least have a little moderation. It's not fair that people spamming up threads (eg http://www.listal.com/groups/viewthread/1885/) with offtopic posts are allowed to rank up as fast as those of us who actually stay on topic and try to make a positive contribution to the boards.

Indeed... I've seen that used more than once now and it's just really inappropriate.

Yes that is really annoying.
Plus the Narutards are starting to spam the General Discussion area again.

There are now 4 consecutive replies (so far) to that thread now that are off-topic and two more that ignore the "rules" of the thread.
If the boards aren't even going to be worth posting on then they certainly shouldn't be worth points. Can we retroactively remove the points for posts like was done for voting on reviews a little while back? Or some moderation.
Hate to sound like a broken record, but...

I think Tom's been busy managing MySpace.

I agree... a little moderation goes a long way.
On a side note:
I seriously doubt that Listal Tom is the same Tom as the Myspace Tom.
One lives in the UK the other in the US.
And if they are the same, why doesn't Tom advertise for Listal on his Myspace page? Or at least have a link.

You know, there have been few big improvements to the site in the past year. None of my suggestions and only a couple of the bugs I've identified have been fixed/implemented. Tthe signal to noise ratio in the groups is out of control.
If Tom decides to ask for donations again at the end of this year I, for one, won't be opening my wallet.
Don't get me wrong, the site is still very useful, but it's stopped evolving. I can just as easily go back to keeping lists in Excel or Access or just use another site if this one goes down.

I love Access, but I couldn't imagine leaving behind Listal.
I'll support Tom as the webmaster. I'm not sure how many people he has behind him in the site's maintenance, or if he has some sick involvement with the Naruto ambush, but I could never complain at Listal's expense.
I think there are definite issues to address, and you guys have done a good job of not only labelling them but also of working toward solving them. This site needs that sort of contribution, if anything.
You make some good points. Still, a name like Tom? It can't be a coincidence.

Maybe there should be a thirty-second separation between posts so that this kinda thing won't be too disruptive? I accidentally make a triple-post, and I get banned. Or something reasonable.

I will try and go back and see if a few things you have suggested can be implemented. Updates have been slow recently been I have been working on a number of things at the same time which should be released soon.
I will be asking for moderators soon but I still need to write moderation tools.

Oh and I'm definitely not the guy from myspace ;)

This is starting to get confusing. If another web designer pops up with the name 'Tom', a legal name change on various respective behalfs will be absolutely necessary.
I'm glad to hear some moderators are going to be appointed for real. Prelude was only trying to get into the Naruto members' skulls, but he really set me up for disappointment with that little gag of his. :(

whats this about and dont type to much i really hate to read i mean like omg=g: gosh

We're talking about something commonly referred to as 'spam'.

I think Tom just started removing points because I'm back at rank 34 and most of the narutards have dropped.
It's either that or I'm going crazy...

no Uber, you are not going crazy. i also got magically about 1500 points more than i had yesterday. i think Tom didn't cut the posting points, but he raised the points for everything else, so in proportion the "forum-spammers" dropped ;).

Whatever the shift was, it seems to have knocked Prelude off of the top spot!

i thought Coroner was number one (in points at least) the whole time.

Prelude dropped to number two within the last few days.
I'd be curious to know what the point allocations are now.
I'd be curious to know what the point allocations are now.

maybe Tom will clarify what exactly happened, as the forum-spammers can still be found in the region of 20-50. i wonder if a forum post always counted 2 points, because right now it does.

not more? how is it possible then that people had 20000 points and up by just posting here (you know the guys who don't have anything rated, listed or reviewed...)? they would have needed like 2000 posts if it was only 10 points. points are worthless anyway, so i don't know why people bother so much about them. what this forum would really need is moderation.

I have lowered points for posting and added points for getting votes and posting videos.
I think some people do have this number.

thanks for the reply Tom. dumb, offtopic question: i thought the videos in the, let's say, actor's section are grabbed automatically by some script from youtoube. they are really all uploaded by hand? hard to believe looking at quite unknown actors who still have videos shown.
will there be any measures to clean up all those senseless threads (like Help me kill PINK!!) and/or implement some moderation?

The actors page are automatic but with the actual movies you can add videos to, I will be changing this whole system soon though.
The thread you linked to is in one of the forums assigned as chat forums, these are pretty hidden anyway as they do not appear in the recent threads unless you click the checkbox. In the future I plan to convert these into a user created group and that community can manage itself.

Yeah, I'm sorry. I think one of those people is me, also it's not really nice to say Narutards. Some people like Naruto..like me. I am not going to spam..anymore! And I'm 10 remember...
