16 years, 11 months ago at Jun 8 0:07 - What about Videos, AVI files and the countless other ways your can view a movie?. Its just silly to have all that really. Maybe some way to indicate if you own a DVD in HD if you really want, although I think its not necessary.

Imagine: if each thing had a category, there'd TECHNICALLY be duplicates(THough they are part of different systems)
so TECHNICALLY, they HAVE seen each one
Meaning they just cheated the points system
Maybe a DVD's Extras category or something, but not something that would lead to an abuse of the points system

16 years, 10 months ago at Jun 9 21:34 - What are AVI files? I just think there should be a HI-Def catagory. And actually there are millions of duplicates thanks to the various regions.

16 years, 10 months ago at Jun 9 22:29 - I can see where you are coming from in some respects JLA but it would be too much work and would cause a mess really. Like said above, it would make sense to give you the option to state it is HD or Blue Ray etc. Or change DVDs to something else...

16 years, 10 months ago at Jun 10 16:28 - I think there should be a field to classify the different types of media but not a seperate category (like movies, dvds, blu-ray) Eventually I would like to integrate the movies and dvds section so you can just choose the type of format you own, e.g. dvd, blu-ray or digital.

first of all i'd rearrange the whole sections. i'd only leave the section "Movies". then i'd show under each movie the available DVDs, Blu-Rays etc. (merged from the former section "DVDs") for it.
then i'd add two selections to movies so that it looks like that:
[ ] Watched [ ] Want to watch [ ] owned [ ] Want to buy/get
when you select one of the last two selections you'd get a subselection like that
|-------- [ ] DVD
|-------- [ ] Blu-Ray
|-------- [ ] HD-DVD
|-------- [ ] Laser Disc
|-------- [ ] CD
|-------- [ ] VHS
|-------- [ ] Betamax
|-------- [ ] 8mm
|-------- [ ] digital (AVI, MPEG, etc.)
and you select (obligatory) at least one of the media categories, with multiple choices available.
after you checked the media type you can see under "My Stuff" and "Movies" a link for all the different media types you own, showing something like DVDs (14), Blu-Rays (5) and CDs (3), where every media type is clickable and shows a list of let's say 14 DVD's if you select DVDs.
the same could be done for all item item types (music, games etc.).
