Tech help - profile editor
Deleted user

Hi, I'm new to Listal. I'm having several issues with the profile layout editor that I hope someone can help me with. I'm able to change the background colour of my profile as well as the module styles of my catagories, but I'm unable to change the text colour and link colour. It's also not allowing me to use the nifty "drag" function to place a few catagories in the "unused module" section.
I'm using an updated version of Firefox and haven't had any problems anywhere else on the site. I even opened Explorer (yuck!) to see if I could do any good there, but no luck. Does it have something to do with cookies? I'm a little sad I can't make my profile perty, so can someone give me some advice/pointers?
Thanks in advance.

the drag and drop does work, but you have to play around a bit with it. it's the same problem as with the drag and drop in lists, the boxes or items you drag jump over to the far left, far right or dont even get dragged properly. i opened a thread for this problem regarding lists, so let's see if Tom can look into it. until then you'll get it done with a little patience, your cookies are all right.

OK, I did a little investigating. If I choose "basic" as my module style I'm able to change the text and link colour. If I choose "roundedgrey" as the module style, which is what I prefer, I'm not able to change text and link colour. For some reason it automatically makes text colour black and link colour blue.
And I'm still not able to drag modules no matter what style they are and no matter how long I fiddle with it. :/
EDIT: I should have stated this more clearly: I AM able to drag the modules in the edit profile layout, it's just that when I go to click "save changes", they return back to their original position. So to put it simply, they're not staying where I want them to! :P

ok, now i got you. well, regarding the colors i fear it's "works as designed". when you look next to the color fields, you'll see in the brackets that it's only meant for basic style. all other styles (like the roundedgrey you want to use) default to black text and blue links.
that your modules jump back to where they where before your dragging and dropping is in my opinion a bug. i just tried it and it works fine in Firefox 2.

You know, it figures I'd make something harder than it really is...
Apparently you don't have to hit "save changes" after dragging modules around. It automatically updates where your modules are placed on your profile. The "save changes" option is for text/background editing only. Also, I didn't notice the "basic style" in parenthesis indicating you can only change text/link colour in basic mode. Ooops.
Thanks for your help, Bael. As I said, I'm brand-spankin' new here and apparently it's painfully obvious! :P
NOTE TO TOM: Maybe you should include an FAQ link on the main Listal page for new members such as myself with this kind of helpful information included?

good suggestion 350125g0. the only problem i see is that Tom (fortunately) makes many changes in Listal's code and therefore features and usability, and keeping such a FAQ up to date could get quite a task.
also, apparently it's not quite clear, from a usability point of view, when you have to save the changes and when not. still, modules shouldn't be reset after you hit "save changes". but i still think thats some bug. at least it worked fine for me.
p.s.: welcome onboard and enjoy Listal :).
