Tags and ratings points

I believe it's necessary to stop giving points to people for tagging and rating items.
There are users who rate and tag 10000 items just in order to get points, which is at the same time annoying and sad.
If you don't give them points you will stop this behaviour and the rating and tagging will have a better use

There have been a number of cuts to the point rating system. Which is fine, anything that keeps me off the top 100 list is golden in my book.

However, doing this would be another harsh step regarding points and might discourage members.

Also, I don't see how this would prevent tags such as "Watched In 2010", "I Own This", "Can't Wait To See" and other prolific tag annoyances.

At least with the current "tagging free for all" the top tags rise to the top.

While I am quite happy to post 40 screen shots to a movie I love and not get a single point or vote.... tagging without that microscopic point incentive... don't think I would even bother.

However, that is just me personally and we all know what a lazy piece of brunt toast I am ;)

as i said more than once, just quit the useless point system altogether to make Listal a better site. there were through the years, and will always be, people moaning how they are treated unfairly, because others get points for pictures, tags, reviews, ratings, basically everything you get points for in the first place. so dear Tom, remove the points to stop this annoying bitching once and for all. please...

It seems like the last few days or so my "place" in the points thing froze in place. I think my points are still going up. I just stay at a rank of 722. I don't know why this is, but if someone could help, that would be great.

I guess that makes sense.

I agree with BeemerNYC about the soft porn. There are people in the top members of listal who are mostly there because of all their porn and softcore porn pic votes.
