17 years, 3 months ago at Jan 21 16:20 - I think the tags for items could be updated. Here are a few suggestions.
1:
I think instead of clicking on other people's tags for an item and it taking you to that tag's page, it should add the tag to your tags for that item. (For instance, clicking on 'action' would tag the movie for you, not take you to the page of item's tagged with 'action')
This is great idea I got from Last.fm, if you're a member you'll know what I'm talking about here.
(An alternate way of doing this would be a '+' next to the other people's tags, and clicking that would add it to your's)

[This might not be needed if we use the above method, but hey! it doesn't hurt to put it down]
We could have an optional auto-tag-add from IMDB. For instance The Matrix has the main genres of Action, Thriller, & Sci-Fi on its IMDB page, and members could choose to have those auto-added if they wish.
(of course they should be able to have auto-add on but still be able to select and de-select them at their leisure).
3:
I also think a mass tagging should be allowed. You could check a group of movies on your 'watched' page and be able to select a tag at the bottom of the page. (much in the way you can select items and add them to lists)
That's about it... if I think of anything more, I'll add it.. :D

17 years, 3 months ago at Jan 21 19:05 - I like the plus-sign idea. That can afford for more popular tags that various members agree on. And for the mass tagging, it's kind of already in place. I say kind of because once you've tagged an item enough, the place where you include another tag is buried behind the item beneath, and items untagged altogether are untaggable. That could stand to be improved.

17 years, 3 months ago at Jan 28 7:18 - I like the mass tagging idea. It's a pain in the booty to have to go through and individually tag things when you have more than a few items to tag.
The auto tag idea is interesting but I think it might be more useful if the auto tag was for the listal tags. I know a lot of the time when I'm tagging stuff I used the same genres that other people have used so it would make it easier to tag I think.
