Superman Returns

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds like it will be pretty damn good.

I was surprised at how good this movie actually was. I've always enjoyed watching Superman stuff, but this could be the best.

The movie itself was a very good movie. the only problem I had with the movie. Was they advertised this was a stand alone movie. Bryan Singer was quoted saying this movie wasn't anyway related to the originals, but the movie takes place 5 years after Superman 2. As good a job as Brandon Routh did, I still saw ALOT of Christopher Reeves in him

I finally got to see it, and was very disappointed. It was terrible. Now, if Singer makes another Superman movie, I have no doubt that will be good, because there was promise in SR, but it was pretty awful.

It wasn't all that great.

Batman Begins kick-started the Batman franchise to a whole new level, making us forget all the past sequels that just spiraled into the abyss. I hoped Superman Returns would've been a similar boost to the Superman franchise, but it did nothing for me. I was flat out bored, I think I dozed off thru most of it. I think the start of it was ridiculously made. You don't start off an epic film, showing planets and stars and outer space, and get people pumped with the original superman music, only to follow it up with some scene where a dying old woman is mumbling in some dark bedroom. ugh... where where the editors that should've slapped the director for that.

same here Prelude76. The four of us fell asleep while watching SR! I too believe the editors were not great, that opening scene with the planets was just plain ridiculous.
To think that I actually bought the darn dvd (2-disc edition) is beyond me... We were *all* disappointed by this film. The acting sucks! Routh is NO Christopher Reeves, granted. Not physically, not in any way. That said, the story wasn't great either. I'm hoping that, IF there is a new Superman movie, it's going to make up for this one.

I thought Kevin Spacey would've been great as Lex Luther but he was a disappointment as well.

Indeed. Twas very long, and....well.....long.

The one line I love: "Wow Lex, freakin gone with the wind."

I love Kevin Spacey and I was honestly embarrased for him after this debacle.

I can't believe so many people are getting Christopher Reeve's name wrong! It is REEVE, not REEVES.

George REEVES played Superman for the TV show long, long ago
Christopher REEVE played Superman in the movies.

I haven't seen this movie...but I never thought Kevin Spacey would make a good Lex Luthor---the commercials I saw were enough to keep me away from the movie....I do have a copy of it now, and will check it out, but I never expected to be thrilled with it, just disappointed.

Jess, so why waste 2 hours on it? just sell it off on ebay as 'unopened new copy'. :)
Jessica 18 years ago at May 12 19:04 -
Because I have seen all other Superman content.....so have to see this one. I can't sell on ebay....and not this copy, that's for sure:)
