Suggestion: Sort by IMDB Rating

Can we add option to sort our collection as well as all listal items by IMDB rating? I know listal has its own rating, but thanks to the recent MySpace punks influx, we have movies such as Ginger Snaps: Unleashed averaging 8.36 and beating out Seven Samurai and City of God. You can almost hear the movie buffs on here crying.

So me personally, i would sometimes rather filter my lists by IMDB rating, not listal's global rating. It would be neat also to see 'Top IMDB Rated' under 'Top Rated' to see how they compare, and to give people two different 'top rated' categories to explore thru as they add items to their collections.

I think it's step in the wrong direction... We should try to get rid of the myspace guys and get more curious users in here. In my opinion also the global rating is usually a better indicator than the imdb rating...

...also this could be a good possibility to get more qualitative ratings.

Since the IMDB ratings are part of the movie's product page already then this seems like a good idea. An outside point of reference on a site that caters more for the needs of serious users could be good as it could keep some people happy.

The Global rating is not as accurate as IMDB. It's just simple average; add up all their votes, divide by # of people that voted. That's Statistics 101.

I just wanted to suggest this function, but as I see Prelude has already suggested it almost 2y ago.

Listal's rating is sometimes really inaccurate - I would appreciate if I could have a change to sort the movies by imdb rating score.

i think it would be great, with all the nifty lists coming up, if you could sort by Listal average rating or IMDB-rating (if the items are movies) inside lists, because items in lists tend to be listed just chronologically (as they were added).

A good idea, I'd like to see this implemented as an option in the profile page :) The IMDB is also a more accurate average in my opinion; it utilises the opinions of a wider range and larger number of people

hmmm... might bewiddle the ratings on this site and encourage people to just pay attention to the IMDB rating and in the long run stunt growth in the network.

That's one of the main reasons I haven't included them before.

I understand your reasons but for example take a look at this movie www.listal.com/movie/cthulhu-2007 that is stuck on the top of my want to watch list.

Listal rating: 10/10 (1 rating)
imdb rating: 5.4/10 (256 ratings)

Guess what's more accurate :)

To be honest I don't see any huge issues anymore (maybe you could say what you think the huge issues are), the example that prelude gave "Ginger Snaps: Unleashed" is now rated 7, the example Jan gave was rated by a 36 year old.

I do think some changes could be made like excluding items from the global ratings which have less than 5 ratings

Anyway I've added a imdb sort option to personal collection list pages.

IMDB is really only a good source for movie information, not ratings, which fluctuate constantly because of whatever the big movie in a given month is.
