Suggestion to improve 'Rate a Movie' feature

The new rate-a-movie feature is neat, and gets more user participation, but my beef with it is that it always cycles thru movies from Top Watched in order of most popular. This has the effect of snowballing all the popular movies by making them seem even more popular, because regardless if someone tries that feature just for a bit, they always get asked to rate Matrix, LOTR series, etc, and other popular films first.

Maybe if you could find a way to randomize it? I understand films with 10 or less views probably dont have posters and are probably too obscure, but what about randomizing the cycle of movies that have, say minimum 20 views, regardless of current popularity?

I just think if this keeps up, the top 10 watched might have a 10:1 lead over other top films, simply because most casual users will only try out this feature for a little bit before adding movies manually or by their favorite actors or directors.

I see your point, I actually wanted it to be random when I made the function but it turned out to be too slow. I have just thought of a possible alternative though.

I will add functions so you can only rate certain tags or restrict rating in other ways like movies from 2006 only for example. This should help the situation.

After reading this thread, I decided to check out this feature. I skipped through a few of the movies without rating them. Now these movies show up under my "recently added" list. Both on my profile page and my "movies" page. I did not add them, just skipped rating them.

that's because they get added to a hidden 'skipped movie' list. But you're right, it shouldn't show up in 'Recently Added' if its a hidden list.

Removed the skipped and not interested ones now :)
