Suggestion for TOP RATED

The TOP WATCHED and TOP RATED are nearly identical. I guess Top Rated shows the movies that have the most NUMBER of ratings, which to me seems pointless, and follows nearly exactly TOP WATCHED list, since on average, all movies get same percentage of people participating in rating them.

Why not make the TOP RATED mean what it should mean: HIGHEST rating, similar to IMDB's top 250 - it can be LISTAL users top rated listed. Just make it so that minimum 10 or 20 or whatever number of ratings need to be applied before it makes it to the list, to avoid unknown movies getting 1 person rating it a 10 and it shows up at the top of the list.

The formula for calculating the Top Rated 250 Titles gives a true Bayesian estimate:

weighted rating (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C

where:
R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating)
v = number of votes for the movie = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the Top 250 (currently 1300)
C = the mean vote across the whole report (currently 6.7)

Top rated and top watched are actually exactly the same at the moment, I still haven't completed the code for the ratings :)

Tom, once again, you rock. I've never seen a site where the admin codes in nearly every request, in such short time frame. After holidays when money's not so tight, i'll join the VIP crew, because this site deserves support.

p.s. i love how you added the rating in the list view. Now its easy to see quickly how listal's rating compares to IMDB's rating. and i'm gonna have to definately check out 'The Science of Sleep'
