Stuff In Movies

I am not against this, but why do so many people care about cursing, sex, and violence in movies. I can see couples with kids, I can see if they dont want to expose that to kids, but regular people. To me cursing in a movie or even lots of sex doesnt bother me at all. Like an adult I can look past it and be like "ok that movie rocked" and not get all worried about how much sex, violence, or cursing is in a movie. I dont let it ruin the movie for me because if I did there would be alot of movies I wont like. So why do people get worked up over it. Not against it all, just want a clean clear cut answer.

I think people get worked up because as much as we can tell ourselves films have cursing sex and violence when we see it, it should still shock us in some way.

I don't mind most of that stuff to a certain degree so long as it adds to the overall message of the movie. To me, it has to fit. I don't like excessive cursing if it's in a romantic comedy. "Hey, you're really ****ing pretty!" - I mean, does it really belong in such peachy situations as two people falling in love? On the other hand, if it's in a movie about revenge or good vs. evil I can see it working. "I'm going to kick the **** out of you, then I'm going to feed it back to you, and finally I'm going to induce vomiting. Afterwards I'm going to wait a couple hours and go buy a topical magazine," - Now that works.
As for violence, same story. I don't like Fight Club because to me the fighting serves no purpose. I like Collateral, however, because it' s portrayed as evil and carries the plot along. It's also not as much a matter of bloodlust when you watch people shoot one another in contrast to when they punch, kick and bite. Not that fighting always has to be a bad thing - there's lots of honor in fighting for a cause, and this sentiment transfers into film.

Yeah but when the name Fight is in the movie u just know there will be violence

Yeah, you got me there. I guess I was expecting it to have more meaning behind the action and I didn't see any. There might be something included there that I'm missing, but I just thought it was reveling in being violent and that the fighting was all to the side of the plot.

I don't mind at all, but when I'm watching something with my parents and a really graphic sex scene appears it gets kinda awkward.

Okay, here's my thought on this.
Me? I personally have morals and don't cuss all the time but when it comes to movies it's all about appealing to the audience.
If it's a family/children's movie, then of course you wouldn't want to see Horton Hear's a Who dropping the F bomb every few seconds. But this is purely truth,
most people over the age of around 15 are not going to want to watch a PG movie.
For instance, you see a lot of horror films that integrate a lot of sex scenes, nudity, and cussing(Rob Zombie's Halloween is the one that comes to mind :) Why is this? Because the type of person most likely wanting to go watch people get chopped up in several pieces are much more "mature" (When I say mature I don't mean it in the typical sense but in the sense sorta akin to "older").
And when a die-hard horror fan sees a movie, they want to see something INTENSE. And sometime's it's NECESSARY in order to accomplish this.
So it's all about the INTENSITY factor.

Very true, but what about the older adults who go see those movies and then STILL complain about all the sex and cursing that happened

Yea I know what you mean. But I think that also screenplay writers want people to talk about the film. And one way to do that is to shock people. That's just another theory.
