"Some html is allow but links will work on their own most of the time if you just paste them in"
Oh, thanks.
Back to the tagging, am I the only one who tags his DVDs according to film classification (e.g. 15 or 18, etc.)?

Would Waking Life also be an example of rotoscoping? I've never heard this word before! :P

Not sure what Waking Life is, I'm afraid. Or the film.

Rotoscoping is, as lifted from Wikipedia:
...an animation technique in which animators trace over live-action film movement, frame by frame, for use in animated films. Originally, pre-recorded live-action film images were projected onto a frosted glass panel and re-drawn by an animator. This projection equipment is called a rotoscope, although this device has been replaced by computers in recent years.

Apparently it is digitally rotoscoped, as per information from Wikipedia, but the credits on IMDB just list the crew as animators. I think I'll just wit until I have the chance to see it to check the credits for rotoscopers and tag it so. ;)
Ipanema, you might like the "public domain" tag I used above to find free stuff. ;) Also, thank you! I had forgotten all about Bill Plympton cartoons and haven't seen one for more than a year! :D

Great sub-genre tags, rather than typical Comedy, Drama, Action, etc..
Revenge films
Adultery films
Prison films
Poverty films
Racism films
and this nice tag to help identify the real stinkers
Critically Bashed films

Since the comic book thread did so well, I thought I'd compile a list of Millennium Marvel Movies. Even though Blade is actually a late 90's movie...

I myself have to do the same thing Munky and vice versa for some odd reason.
I just thought I'd post in this thread because I don't want it to get pushed all the way done by all the nonesensical threads. I like this thread. It gives me ideas.

Certainly. I've just about done all I can with those threads.
One thing we might consider is putting out requests of cool things to do lists on. I know most of us are going to do our own compilations, but for those that don't feel up to it, a good idea doesn't need to go to waste. :)

That's an idea Thilian.
I've got an Eastern Eye (Asian, martial arts movies) and a World Cinema list. I pretty much just add movies to them as I watch them.
The tags I do aren't that exciting lol.

Thanks! Humor noted. :p
At any rate, I've compiled a list of Universal Classic Horror Films for the great memories they have given all of us. They shook the world of entertainment and reached into our very souls, pulling out our gothic sides. They are all black and white, and don't need to be changed in the least significant way.

I wish there was a feature in listal that if you find someone's list and you like it, you could go 'Save to My Favorites' and then you can quickly and easily check it out in the future

I like the Universal Classic Horror list too. I might have to keep an eye out for them because I haven't seen them all and yes haven't heard of some. I am so sheltered :p

I think that this community has put together some fantastic lists. Voxy said earlier that this thread was likely to get flooded with clutter of some sort. This was good speculation at the time, though I am glad to see that this hasn't in fact been the fate of this thread - or of the other list threads.

I agree that this would be an excellent feature. Voting is a good put up, and usually makes the voted feel proud of their work. Favoriting lists, however, could be to the benefit of the one who does the favoriting.

I'm sure your protectors had your best interest in mind. :p Universal had a nice little Golden Era for a good while, there. I'm not surprised you've heard of a few.
The weekend seems to be the best time for me to make lists. Good thing it's Friday, with Driver's Ed over for the week.

started a new list - anyone want to help fill it in?
speaking of which, that would be an awesome thing for listal - group lists that a few people can 'administer' and keep up to date. for example, 'Recent releases' or 'New on DVD' lists that a few select people can maintain.
anyways, i started to make a list of all Goofy shorts:

At Driver's Ed, they played a movie where three Dewpy-Dogs (Very resemblant of Goofy, and with the same voice actor) went out on the road and each played different examples of what not to do. The first one was too timid, the next one just wanted to own the road, and the last one just wasn't paying any attention. I don't know the name; I apologize for that.

If anyone's familiar with The Number 23, they might make a list on all of the films whose titles add up to be, numerically, twenty-three. I'd like to see that.
Prelude

Number 23 was so-so. I found it too predictable, which ruined the end. If it had a truly unpredictably twist, it might've been a contender.

Relating things to the protagonist has been phased a little, I guess. The Darth Vader "I am your father" caught the fad in its ripe stage.
Though my concept would be insanely hard to achieve without some incredibly specific computer finding the statistics.
Gah, I suppose I don't watch many movies.

Here's a quirky one for the thread:
amateur dentistry
There are only three hits so far, but I'm sure there are at least a half dozen more films where a character has his or her teeth pulled by someone lacking proper certification.
EDIT: fixed link

an obvious one that is missing for 'amateur dentistry' - Cast Away, when Hanks rips his tooth out with a skate. lol

It's funny how often that occurs. It's in horror movies (to frighten), romantic comedies (to amuse), and even in mystery (when they pull out their sensors). In Spy Kids 2, how did they pull those out? I'm pretty sure they just yanked them out themselves. So that's a candidate.

oh oh, another one. 'Whole Nine Yards'. they ripped out all teeth of a dead gangster and replaced them with casted teeth of Jimmy the Tulip to make everyone think he died based on dental records. haha. love that movie.
then again, its not really 'amateur dentistry', is it? lol

Yeah, my roommate actually mentioned Whole Nine Yards, but then remembered that the character doing the pulling was a real dentist.
I don't own Cast Away or Spy Kids 2, and it seems I'm not able to tag DVDs I don't own. If anyone else could add the "amateur dentistry" tag to those it would be appreciated (by me, anyway).

I spent my afternoon slapping some stuff together.
Miscellaneous Monster Lists:
Monsters You Don't Want to Look in the Eye (5 items, though that good ole eye trick probably crops up elsewhere)
When the Monster is the Hunted (6 items, but surely not all monster features have the creatures going into cities and destroying buildings)
King Kong Films (5 items, when there should be at least eight)
I'm sure there's much more you guys could mention. I always seemed to get the clean monster movies, being caught up more with the Japanese kaiju genre of giant monsters and whatnot. I've been getting caught up on the Classic Horror ones lately, but my viewing history doesn't cover the "monster movie" genre as a whole. I was actually surprised I found so many Succubus movies. Likewise, my DVD collection is pretty sparse. The one Listal section I've left the most underdeveloped - besides doing lists for it - is the movies section. Although I don't even have a TV section. :p

Great lists, Thillian. Here's one to add for Cyclops:
www.listal.com/movie/ulisse
There's a great series of scenes where a Cyclops keep Ulysses trapped in a cave with boulder and has to cleverly outwit the monster to escape.

Thanks for the add. That scene is considered one of the highlights of the epic poem. I actually watched that movie in English last year, I believe. Thanks for reminding me about it; I'd completely overlooked the possibility of The Odyssey renditions (which is strange, since I'm such a strong fan of Greek mythology).
Admittedly, some of my lists are rather short. I guess popular culture hasn't incorporated mythology as much as I'd have thought. The monsters do appear in various series', but listing those wouldn't do much since it's mostly just in one episode per monster... I'm going to upload some pictures for a few of the films on my lists.

what's the hold up, slacker? lol
maybe it's not good to promote making secondary account, but I had to do that for tagging up certains movies. I wanted to tag up all films in the '300 Greatest Films' list, but I didn't necessarily watch or even want to watch all of them, so i made a 2nd account in which i can make such mass-tagging efforts.
Might be handy to have a 2nd account if you will go on a tagging binge, without it 'messing up' your REAL list of movies you've seen or want to see.

Whatever's going on with certain members who can't tag movies they don't own, I've been working on the Greek Mythology list. It's only about twenty-one movies right now, though I find it extremely amusing that "Clash of the Titans" is right under "Hercules in New York". :p I've been pretty strict about what items go in it, but I'll take note of any suggestions about approach.
