Small design tweaks

To much time on my hands on weekends ... :P
Btw is there any design changes in mind?

To be honest I prefer the current rating stars but I do have some new designs which I haven't implemented in html yet.

yeah, stars are a bit off. anyway, was something fast in photoshop, not actually coding :P for that it had to be "real".
looking forward to see the see design tho! hopefully not so "white", but thats just a matter of opinion =)

Please don't change the Listal stars, Tom! I know it may sound like I'm freaking out about this, but they're unique to Listal and fine just the way they are. Plus, they're implemented in many different ways throughout the site. I even use them in a few of my lists for a streamlined look.
Anyone else feel the same way I do? I can't be the only one!

lol, ok ok.. leave the stars! xD i just them more... "shiny" :P

Tom, can you make the stars bigger please?
Other than that I really like the way the stars are now... but I would like to see the stars on the item page just a bit bigger.

Theres a "new" website with an awesome design but lacks a lot of stuff. Doesn't compare to Listal but it can give a few "ideas" especially the movie page.
For example : www.ulike.net/The_Shawshank_Redemption
For example : www.ulike.net/The_Shawshank_Redemption

Well they have about 6 times as many ratings for The Shawshank Redemption as Listal so they're obviously doing something right. From looking at their home page it doesn't look like it compares with Listal in that it seems to be designed to rate stuff rather than list the stuff you own. However it clearly overlaps.
I like the way they have brands too e.g. Star Wars. Characters are a good feature (and one that has been suggested here too).
Anyway back to the page design since that's what the thread's about. I think my first impression is that I prefer the ulike design - however it's missing a lot of Listal's features. So what would I do to improve Listal's design? Move the description to the right of the movie poster. I'd make the blue tags/info box smaller and only show the top tags to save space (with a "show all" option). That'd mean that the "directed by" and "Staring" would be further up the page (I assume people are lazy like me and don't want to scroll down for things they can't yet see - if they can see a bit of it then they're more likely to be tempted). I'd also be tempted to go with a list of cast with smaller pictures (listal has characters so one up one them there). The links to Wikipedia on each pages are a cool feature too - looks like that's where they've got their descriptions from.

I'm working on a design that includes some of the changes that you mentioned, should be released soon.

I talked about Listal feature that fits better ( at least on my needs ). The rating system for example. The custom list making that u cant do there, and they have a lot of people because they had a TV commercial in France.
The cool about it its the design itself and the news feeds for every movie, that i assume its "auto" and not user submitted.
The only thing that "bothers" me is to much white and the info not being in content boxes different from the background. A movie/item with, for example, a lot of ratings, lists, etc.. when u scroll down its to "empty".
But we all have our tastes =)
I rather wait for listal changes, and to be honest i feel a bit like an outcast when a website is manly used by one country ( in that case, France )

Ps: and from what I have seen U have "limits" for the hall of fame and hall of shame. they say its for better view of people with similar tastes.
And when it cames to movies sites designs, for me the winner is : Metacritic.
