Slow loading lists

I'm having some trouble with making video-heavy lists. Because it tries to load up all of the Youtube videos the page becomes extremely slow. I know I could just make lists with less videos, but it would mean making separate, shorter lists and I don't want to be spammy. Is there any way to hide the videos until needed? Say, a reveal/hide button? If it were applicable for more than just videos it could be another, and less messy, way to make spoilers.

My fast and easy fix for this was to change how many items get displayed. I changed the list to only show 20 items instead of the default 50. For long lists this means the list visitor clicking on "Load More..." button quite a bit but compared to loading a heavy page I think it is the more friendly solution.

Prelude put video image links in the IMDb Top 250 list which is very snazzy.... but not really what your talking about.

OK, I'm not helpful... going to go back to my cave now :P

The thing is though, the lists continue to be slow after the videos have loaded. One of my lists-in-process nearly kamikazes if I try to do anything else because there are about 100 videos on it.
