Site speed

I know I'm beating a dead horse but the site seems to have slowed to a snails pace and doesn't seem to be getting better. Any attempts to do anything are met with the roundy round icon reminding us that time is not on our side. I know this issue =has been presented i other threads but I simply couldn't take the time to load the pages as I scrolled about looking for them so I posted fresh.

Any others experiencing this and/or similar problems?

If Listal was to report its speed as a Facebook relationship status, it would definitely be complicated.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not experiencing any issues at the moment.

I was about to say the same, and then I went to load a page and it was sluggish. I had a lot of issues yesterday adding items to lists, very long waits for search items to load. It's generally very hit and miss, but as a weekend, this one was far better than most of late (even with slow loading and an internal error, oh and two periods of image server problems). Like I said... it's complicated.

For me at times its great then at times it's sluggish but i don't seem to have as much problems with the site as you do

On the upswing now, I was actually able to do some voting and not have to drink a cup of coffee between clicks.....

I'm finding it slow, especially in the galleries.

I wonder how much good a clean up would do, surely removing a huge chunk of duplicates/adult material would help the image servers... there must be thousands of images on this site that could be binned. Motivation is another matter, for every image removed there is probably another being uploaded... or a handful given how quickly it can now be done with the rapid-fire plopsprayer now available to all.

Edit: Removed that idea, not sure I'd still be here after serving time as a mod.

I almost did, but thought better of it. As much as I'd enjoy cleaning things up, I think it would end up with me cleaning myself from here... too many opportunities for head-clashing.

I have made some changes yesterday which I think have improved the site speed. I have checked the page generation time over the last 24 hours and only 1% of pages took longer than 1 second to generate, the previous week around 3% of pages generated in over 1 second. I will continue to make improvements but some ideas for improvement are more complicated so will take longer.

In terms of images I have not seen many problems over the last couple of weeks but I have actually recently added a third server which hasn't gone live yet but should help.

Looks like external scripts slow pages down.

Are you still finding the site slow? It seems fast to me.

I tried doing a test on that site and it said that the site was faster than 90% of all websites: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bLALA/http://www.listal.com , some of the internal pages were slower but that is to be expected as they have more images.

The external scripts used a pretty common ones used in a lot of websites.

From my end Tom, it has gotten much better over the past couple of days. I find that there are periods where it drags terribly, but overall it pretty damn good now.

Picture section is acting up again. They are loading erratically, sometimes yes (slowly) and sometimes with a broken thumbnail. They are also changing locations in the list; pictures that I voted for that I found in (lets say)the beginning of the list move to a different part of the list when I return after voting.

Anyone else experiencing this?

As a follow-up, I can't access anything on this list in order to vote (www.listal.com/list/my-pictures-listal-vii-peterleeberg). All of the pictures load, but I can't click on anything. I tried reloading several times, nothing.

I am finding the site slow again these days.
