Shin Megami Tensei: General Discussion

Anyone else who's into this series?

I got into this series thanks to Persona 3. It wasn't until the Devil Survivor games and SMTIV that got me really into the series. I really like the concept where you roam through the broken world fighting/recruiting demons and making choices that determines what ending you get. While the games can be difficult, its the kind that really fun and it opens my eyes on difficulty in general.

If anyone is having trouble with any bosses, or want a opinion on a character/demon moveset, feel free to ask.

To be honest I'm really hesitant to try any of these games. I really enjoyed RPGs back in the PS1 era (hell, who didn't?) but I have to admit that I'm still really burned out with the genre even though I have a lot of them in my collection.

I mean I did just dump 60hrs into BOFIII on the PSP (and about 45 of that was lvl grinding) but it takes a lot to get those games into my consoles/handhelds these days. Eh... I don't really explain why I'm so apprehensive towards newer RPGs. I'm mean I'm not going to sit here and act like all the older ones were better or that they were pure gold cause that is far from being true.

I really don´t understand why people say that they spend many hours "lvl grinding". I am NOT any genious and I finished Breath of Fire III without "lvl grinding" stuff at all.

Of course, I lvl but I never walk in dungeon JUST FOR LVL. One day I read that one idiot lvl in Final Fantansy VI until 99 and complain that the game is very easy. If you come to the final boss with level 35 (yes I did) or 40 there will be pretty much challenge.

As I told before, I am NOT (far from it) any RPG genious, but most people "lvl grinding" because they are plain stupid. If you need lvl grinding in most JRPG, then you prolly doing something else very WRONG.

About Shin Megami Tensei there are a lot of things I would like to talk about. But because a religious fanatic could show up at any moment to spoiler the fun, I won´t here.
