Score calculation

2 days ago I took the time to continue with my books - doubled the collection - but my score is still the same... is the score truly meaningless...? Or books are exempted? Either way if it's the reality then it renders the whole editing rules thus the site meaningless too...
If it takes days to recalculate my score then it's slightly better but still sucks, it's way too slow...

your point score is 1790

The 5,000 point limit before editing is meant to prevent people from logging in with new accounts and then ruining the database out of malice or carelessness.
Some feel it's too high, some feel its too low.
Regardless, I understand your frustrating, as there are a few users on here that appear they *want* to help and fix up database entries, but feel 5,000 is way too far in the distance. This is especially true for people that have a limited or specialized collection, and don't want to use listal to tag and rate hundreds or thousands of movies just before they can edit and properly catalog their book collection.
as such, Tom, would it be possible for some of us senior members to 'tip out' people that seem genuinely interested in helping Listal, such as szlevi? I'd gladly give him 4,000 of my points just so he can start editing right away.

good suggestion List Maker. maybe this could be used for a general "trusted member"-system, that could be used by users with, i dont know, lets say 10000 points+, to recommend other users for item editing who are below the 5000 point limit.

I have more points that I know what to do with. I'd gladly give some away if it meant helping out people that are DESPERATE to edit the site, or in case of Thilian, gets a bad day, deletes his account, and is back on with new account but no points. lol
he contributed so much to the gaming section, its a shame to wait til he hits 5,000 points before he can get back to helping me clean up that area.

In case that's the problem: you don't get points for marking things as "owned" or "watched" ... you have to actually rate them, add tags, or write reviews.

It's a catch-22 situation though. It's hard for people to care about listal and tag things, rate them, and add reviews, if they can't set correct date and add a missing description or fix up a typo in a title.
its hard telling people to do all this work, and only then, can they go back and fix all the mistakes they've encountered. So i totally see where some are coming from, though I still thing we need to keep the limit in play to prevent vandalism of the site --- just add point 'giveaways' or make certain users exceptions if they ask nicely on here and look like good contributers.

lately I just more than doubled my point score and re-did my profile it was a hell of an annoying thing but totally worth it lol if only the site took more than jpg

the JPG only issue i have a beef with as well. i know how to convert images but it does take effort on my part, but so many old game screen shots are only in GIF format, and many other good ones are in PNG. It would be nice to have those two included soon.

yeah cause I have some killer images and I just can't be assed to convert them
