Scorcese or Tarantino?

Simple question, and something I always think about. Who's movies are better, Martin Scorcese's or Quentin Tarantino's? Any thoughts?

I like both of them, they both have interesting movies, but if I had to make the choice Scorsese wins anyday. He is a legend of directing and in my opinion Tarantino has yet to hit legendary status. Still though two of the best directors working right now.

Depends on what you mean. Whos the best Director, or Who has made the most good movies? I bet Tarantino learnt/borrowed a lot from Scorcese's movies.

I myself prefer more Tarantino movies than Scorcese, but as the great Harry Hill once said "There's only one way to find out, FIGHT!!"

Scorcese, without a doubt, is the better, more accomplished director with a catalogue of films that include at least 3 titles that trump Tarantino's best effort...IMHO. He's a visionary, a brilliant story-teller, and a genious behind the camera. His films also have more soul and power.

That said, Tarantino can shoot a single scene with the very best of them. He's a cinephile through and through, and his exuberance gives his films a lot of life and has helped him shape his own artistic identity. He gets some criticism from borrowing too heavily from Scorsese, but at least he has the good sense to admire and emulate the very best. Besides, I find as much John Ford in Tarantino's pics as Scorcese or any other director.

Anything either of them direct is worth a look.

Scorcese. He has the edge simply because he has more movies. His are more serious too. Goodfellas and Casino are amazing.

I love them both but they aren't comparable to each other, at least not yet. Scorsese invented his own way of filmmaking while Tarantino has borrowed from a lot of films and other filmmakers that have influenced him. He just knows how to use those influences very effectively. He just needs to make another film on or near the level of Pulp Fiction and then you can mention him in the same sentence as Scorsese.

Scorsese, by far. While I deeply respect Tarantino's talent there is no one greater than Marty Scorsese.

Tarantino... Many of Scorsese's movies are just plain boring.
