Russell Crowe - next Robin Hood

dspin 15 years, 5 months ago at Nov 25 11:44 -
What does everyone think of Crowe in the lead for next yrs. Robin Hood. My opinion is, Gag me with a Spoon. Only one Robin Hood - Errol Flynn, and if they wanted to redo it, need someone who is physically fit, not looking like Friar Tuck. While I'm at it, no one can replace Basil Rathbone either

I dunno, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I love the director Ridley Scott. Crowe I can do without, but I have faith that this will be a good one.

I thought it was about the prestory to being the legend. But, then its not just that it's also the legend

The trailer makes it look like Gladiator but in a different setting...:\

I love Crowe as Robin Hood. Flynn was the whimsical Hood, Costner was the too-American Hood and Crowe is going to be the Bad-Ass Hood.

I think I prefer the cast and premise that was supposedly in the original script: Christian Bale as a somewhat evil Robin Hood and Russell Crowe as a sympathetic and good natured Sheriff of Nottingham. Now you have Crowe, who is too old for the title role and a nobody playing Sheriff of Nottingham who looks amateurish in the trailers. Obviously Ridley Scott & Crowe made the change early in production to try and re-create Gladiator 10 years later, probably in an effort to revitalize Scott's fledgling career.

It doesn't look like Robin Hood. It looks very epic, majestic and simply all the things that glorify Hood but fail to analyse his humanity.

It looks like some re-hash of Kingdom Of Heaven mixed with Ridley Scott's obsession with warping History upon filmic frame...

I mean come on Ridley... Go back to Sci-Fi and get cracking adapting and making Brave New World. Not like we need another Robin Hood adaptation is it?...

Agreed AgentLexi, either way we dont really need another remake of Robin Hood. Its been done in enough ways!

Judging by the trailer, its basically generic action vs Robin Hood:
