Reposting reviews/duplicate reviews

I already posted and deleted this thread; but after some more research I'm sure its deserving of its own debate. I just dont want to look like a warmonger; but it belittles the whole scoring system.

wyrmslayer.listal.com/reviews

This guy particularly does it; 10 reviews for the same album, posted on different versions. Should this be allowed?; isnt it breaking a code of honour at the very least?

Please dont think Im trying to start a fight here, Im more upset or disheartned by it that anything...although I wont deny a substantial rage.

about the topic, *right now*, its handy to have a review, even if its same, across multiple entries. But once we get our 'merge' feature working implemented - soon I hope? ;) - all those reviews would be grouped into the same item, so maybe if mods have option to delete out duplicates (and crappy) reviews, that should take care of all the mess the merge will cause. Unless Tom can code a way that if a review is identical, or under x amount of words, it will automatically be deleted on merging of items.

It shouldn't be allowed. I mean, we have enough problems with duplicate items, why should we suffer duplicate reviews?

Yeah its ok to have right now but yeah when/if the merging happens it will be bad. I can very easily write a function to remove reviews with the same text.

While I admit that irks me, what's especially distressing is when people copy and paste reviews WORD FOR WORD FROM OTHER SITES and claiming it as their own. That I think belittles the whole scoring system. I don't mind if they wrote it for another place but out right plagiarism? Uh-uh. ichiana.listal.com/reviews
It seems like they are getting their reviews from this site www.anime-planet.com/reviews/
I even checked the reviews on that site to make sure maybe they are the same person but I highly doubt it since many of the reviews are by different people and if the person is to be believed either way, they would have been writing reviews since the age of 10.

I posted the same GTA IV review for different versions. Can I know what's wrong with this? A review is meant in convenience for the users. A user will go to a certain version and if he wants to read a review, he can read it there. It's handy.

Or is it because people can get a highter 'score' with that? If so, it only means the topic starter is more obsessed with that as opposed to the review posters. I don't post reviews to bump my points. I do it for the users. How about that!

I know it's dragging up an old thread, but to answer the question, it's basically down to the fact that once items are linked, all your reviews and ratings for each version of GTA IV would appear on all copies. If you do it just once, it won't appear on all for now, but long term it's far more convenient.
