You know what's funny? I don't even remember there being the 'skater' clique or the 'emo' clique or any of that, or even 'gangsta'
I never once saw anyone fitting any of those cliques, I saw 'thugs' in which I mean they didn't imitate gay prisoners and listen to shit remixes of old electronic music made into rap,

There was no all black, I don't recall ever seeing anyone in a belly shirt, there were short shorts, but not nearly as much as now,

And from this, I mean ANYONE, not just the othert elementary kids, I used to watch everything around me, there was just regular people, none of this clique and stereotype shit, it's almost like they just appeared

And now we've got this shitty sound ordinance and this shitty teen rule crap saying we can't be out at certain times,

Its simply because you are rich! You may not believe it but its true. Before, there wasn't a fashion for children. You either wore hand-me-downs or whatever was available and believe me that wasn't fashionable. Today you have a whole fashion industry after your pocket money and your parents income.

Now you also have knowledge, in the past your friends were the only peer pressure and they didn't mind what you wore, today you have friends globally and everyone is image concious - just look at your avatars for proof. So you now know about fashion and cliques and you want to fit in.

As for short skirts etc. Sex sells and sadly where pop starts go, young fans blindly follow. Wish kids could have both knowledge and wisdom, but the latter comes with age.

as for the pop star crap. I think it has to do with Nurture, if you're raised in a pop friendly environment, chances are you're a sheep, you can still be intelligent, but that whole 'flock' thing kinda takes from the shine

Back when I was in school I would have loved to fit in to any crowd. But I didn't, I knew I didn't and I hated it. I say all of that, though it didn't mean I actually tried to fit in either. I just wanted some friends that would accept me for me. I found a few. they were in the same position as myself, for a time atleast. Eventually though we went our separate ways. Some wanted to fit in with everyone else and did something about it. Others didn't change but they didn't want to be friends with someone that's the same as them, and so went looking for other kids to hang with. Which if you look at it closer, they had changed even if their attitudes hadn't. You say you don't want to fit in, but that's a lie. Everyone wants to fit in somewhere. If you didn't, that would mean you're dead.

Basically what I'm trying to say is trends are one way to fit in. Using something that shallow to come together with other people is fine for most. But that doesn't have to be the epitome of "friendship". In high school I made friends with lots of different people from different cliques. From crackheads to band geeks. They're all the same in the end. Ofcourse, me being me, I tended to be alone most of the time anyway. I imagine that is you guys' ideal situation, where you aren't judged solely by what you wear, and the problem is everyone around you is a douchebag, right. Only solution to that is adapt. Find the least douchebaggy person you can think of and open their eyes to how fucking retarded they truly are. Just don't force your ideals onto them. the sheep like the way they look so let them be, but make them aware of your presence. They won't know or care about you if all you do is avoid them. You're on the attack, not them. Its fine if they don't like you. You don't like them either. I also happen to think labels are fine. Making them up as you go is fine too. Its not like they matter to begin with.














If you've read this far down. Congratulations! You win nothing! and have finally realized my post contains lots of spoilers and contradictory information. Much of it useless either way. Such is life. Most things aren't going to go the way you want them to, especially if you hate them and you don't learn to deal. If you don't want to be friends with someone because they dress trampy, then that is your problem, not theirs. they may actually be quite a blast to hang with and you're hung up about them because they like the clothes they wear for whatever reason. May it be because its the style or whatever. You're the one with the prejudice who won't give them the time of day because you refuse to acnowledge them even if they had as valid a viewpoint as yours.
