Recommend a site for mp3 downloads

I am an iPod virgin and love the iTunes site, but I've seen other mp3 sites and wonder? How they stack up on user friendliness and affordability?
Yahoo? iTunes? Rhapsody?
Anyone with recommendations?

Alot of people like emusic. Their prices are reasonable and they don't infect you with DRM (digital restrictions management (sic)).

if you want to download free aussie music, check out www.triplejunearthed.com/ - it's for emerging artists to post their work, and you can listen, rate and download anything on that site. Some of it is really good.. I'd at least check out the top of the charts

good stuff, thank you!

Kind of a grey area, but www.allofmp3.com is without a doubt the cheapest "legal" place to find music.

In addition to emusic, I could also recommend Rough Trade Digital and Insound.

Yo Derek, what do you mean by "grey area"?
allofmp3 is the best I've heard of. I mean you can get the whole "Oh! Gravity!" album for $2! I think it is legal, it's in Russia.
Don't use Limewire and such, yall. Illegal, and fills you comp with crap. Just pay the $2 and feel good about doing the right thing.

Essentially, they claim to be legal in Russia, but not necessarily elsewhere in the world. Worth doing more research (if you care) to find out about the legality where you're based.

Excavation Nation: Archaeology for music freaks has some good mp3/podcasts

Yeah I suppose allofmp3 isn't legal.......I've never actually used it.

It depends on what country you're using it in and who you ask.

Ah, very true. In the US, it is probably illegal.
