Rating films before they are released.

This may have been discussed already, but I feel it needs to be brought up. I've noticed MANY ratings on films, that sometimes aren't even scheduled for release until 2012, sometimes later, including in other countries. It just really bugs me, and screws up the whole point of the rating system.

Is there a way to implement an IMDb type system, where the star ratings are locked until the actual release date?

It is planned but cannot give a date for this yet.

Urgh, there are FIVE ratings for Expendables II already, and the film only commenced production less than a fortnight ago.

The first rating is from six months ago.
Methinks you should remove those ratings Tom... It just screws up the system, as Derek said.

That's a prime example, Cal, and extremely annoying! What is the purpose of doing such a thing?

I guess people either confuse it for another movie, and simply have a vendetta against it.

I don't buy the whole "oops, I rated the wrong film by accident" thing, ha ha. But the vendetta part seems to be the main catalyst.

Maybe, when a user is caught red-handed in the habit of rating unreleased movies, not just once (possibly a mistake) but many times, then they should be given a warning, and eventually blocked from Listal's rating system.

BTW, you might want to take a look at the comments to this interesting list by johanlefourbe
I mean, the comments about some users who usually rate films not yet released.

You think rating movies that aren't released yet is bad?
I read a review of "Avatar 2"! And the review was written in 2010!
A bunch of people have rated it too.
It looks like we have some time travelers on this site. =P
