Radio

In an attempt to reclaim the Groups from the gibberish, here is a nice new thread! (Notice the distinct inclusion of letters in my words. :P)

Does anybody listen to the radio often? I would think that its popularity has declined recently, but maybe thats just because I'm only just getting back into the habit.

There is only really one radio show I will listen to over here. In the UK we have Radio 1, and I listen once a week to the Colin Murray show (Tuesdays) because they dedicate about 45 minutes to internet downloads in The Blackhole. I think this is a great idea, and probably very illegal, but I'm amazed that it has lasted since from before the end of last year! Plus, he plays quite a bit of indie music which is actually decent (sometimes).

Otherwise, I tend to keep away from the mainstream junk pumped out by the radio nowadays. Even the so-called "punk" and "rock" shows have degenerated into the emo and pop-punk rubbish common to everywhere else. But I have to say, thats partly because my taste in music is a little bit condensed at the moment.

I used to listen to more radio because of the banter between songs (i.e. Chris Moyles) but now I just don't bother with most of it.

Anybody else? :)

I listen to public radio and a couple of college stations, but that's about it. Pretty much everything other station in my city is run by ClearChannel which means I would hear the same old pop and rock songs I've been hearing since I was a kid played over and over again. There is one "independent" rock channel here, but I don't want to sit through 40 minutes of 90's alternative rock (Pearl Jam, Bush, Stone Temple Pilots, Nirvana, and the like) and commercials to hear an occasional Dylan or Stones B-side.

Thank god for cheap CDs and allmusic.com. I haven't had more than a couple disappointments when blind buying. *knocks on wood*

The importance is not necessarily letter, but vowels :P

I'm not a fan of radio in general. I like having it on in the car from point A to point B, but I don't think there's any radio in my place except for my alarm clock (and it's tuned to static)... I'm not a fan of talk radio in general as I can't just sit there and listen, and music stations are constantly playing the same songs over and over again.

The radio is on in my bedroom, at a very low volume level. I don't enjoy listening to the commercials, repeated songs, and some of the idiotic DJ's that are popping up on my local stations. I will pay attention to the radio for great contests (I get email newsletters), and when I need information if it's snowing.

Other than that, I prefer my own collection of commercial-free, and talk-free, music, on my computer.

I listen to radio regularly, infact everyday about 6 hours i have to listen to it, because i travel and half the time i am in my car, going to my university, am sooo bored that i have to keep ot on, no matter whatever its playing.

Secondly because i am involved in the audio industry and sound production i have alot of friends and contacts working as radio jockeys (RJ's), so for me, making requests or dedication aint a big problem. Just have to call any of my mate, and he puts on the song i want. It's cool atimes as this helps me impress alot of ppl :D LOL
