Promoted lists

About 1 hour ago, there were like 20 'evolution' lists promoted, but then, when you check right now, all those lists are gone... Why ?!?

And how a list with just ten random actors photos is promoted to the front page... it's beyond me!

Because people vote for them but that's not the point... Still, I think it is unfair that 20 lists or more manage to finally get enough votes on the frontpage but then get removed.

I know it has been a few days but I was curious if there was an answer. When you first posted I didn't notice any evolution lists. Then later some 'reappeared' tho now they are on page two but not close to anything close to the number your talking about.

Yes... I voted for your list just to bump it and see what happened.

@jaytoast, it is now working fine indeed. There was this guy 'ducknation' who voted for 30 of my evolution lists and many of them got promoted but disappeared almost right away from the front page. It is actually not a big deal but I'm just wondering what happened, that's all.

It was probably just some sort of bug or something like that.

Or ghost votes. I know that when a user deletes their account it can take quite some time for the system to purge the votes and reset the points. Usually enough time has passed where there is a noticeable change in points. A recalibration is the only thing I can think of why some lists would 'show up again' while others didn't. The purge seems to happen in chunks so I can be rank 875 or rank 48 for a little while as the system recalibrate.

Hope I didn't get too off topic I notice points more then the front page. Still, glad to know things are working again.

My opinion is that actually it wasn't a bug but a clean up action like someon (I presume Tom) saw all these evolution lists and thought 'Hé, there must be something wrong here...' thinking there was some spamming of some kind (which wasn't the case) and just removed them. I think that it is a little bit lame, especially when you think that sometimes, the frontpage was full of carryonbuff stuff or even better, some random naked chicks lists, which just stays there forever. Once again, it's not a big deal but it would be nice to have some lind of explanation.

Yes they were manually removed from the frontpage, since we cannot have the first 2 pages of the promoted section being the same kind of list. I have done the same when lists from carryonbuff appeared on the front page and also occasionally removed lists with limited content in them.

Until there is a more sophisticated algorithm for promoting lists or stopping people voting for many lists from the same person in a row, unfortunately some manual intervention is sometimes required.
