Profile Picture Suggestion

I really don't know how hard it would be to do. But have you ever thought about making the profile pic on the celebrities the pic that has the most votes? I mean that way you dont have people constantly changing the profile pics of the celebrities. Just a suggestion.

I think there was a discussion recently about this, I can't find it anyone more (anyone have the link?).
Ultimately I would like to have a system where you can specify a personal default image for each person and the top selected image would be a default for everyone.
A lot of the top voted images are not suitable for a default profile pic.

Yeah I noticed that after looking through just my fav actors/actresses. I try to help as much as I updating profile info when I run into one that hasn't been done. Or if I come across an actor/actress that doesn't have a profile pic. I do my best to find a pic for their profile

But wouldn't they be constantly changing anyway as the number of votes per image changed? I like the idea of the image with the most votes becoming the default, but it is a tradeoff.

The best solution I can think of to this would be adding a 'Vote as unsuitable to be Primary' button to the current Primary-for-everyone image.
One type of image that's not very suitable to be Primary is full-body shots, due to the person being hard to identify at thumbnail size. Yet, if the original image was large, it could sometimes be cropped to be suitable. A member could do the cropping with their own program and upload a separate image, but then that image would not have the votes associated with the original.
Another problem is suitable images becoming unsuitable when cropped to be square for some site areas. i.e. cutting off the part of the image that makes it noteworthy or its meaning clear. These 2 problems could be reduced if listal had some means of specifying crops.

many times i see where someone changes a profile photo to one that translates badly to the smaller size.also some post one that i consider unsuitable because it doesn't resemble the person adequately. i still feel it is best to let everyone have an opportunity to change images. new postings for an actor appear frequently. setting a default image permanently would not allow for growth as the actors appearance changes. to me CHOICE is always better than NO CHOICE.

Moderator, I really hope for the upgrade (new feature) soon. Thanks for the wonderful Listal.

What about just adding a 'nominate for profile pic' option for each photo?

Wouldn't it sometimes work out that the highest-voted picture is something like concept artwork or a screenshot? I dunno, maybe making this an option will satisfy certain people. The primary pictures tend to change a lot!

What about just adding a 'nominate for profile pic' option for each photo?
That would be fine as an additional option, but there's a lot more pics that are suitable than unsuitable, so it would be easier for members to just mark ones that show up as profile pics unsuitable when it happens.

That would be the easiest to implement out of all the ideas.

I just realized once the ability for users to pick their own personal primary images for items is implemented it won't make any difference anyway, since if a user finds an image unsuitable they can just lock in a different one for their personal use. I would just suggest that the 'nominate for profile pic' button also cast a vote for the image so that you don't have to click twice.

As a third option would it be possible to turn off those thumbnails when you are making a list of actors? With a "Note List" seems that most people add their favorite photo instead of relying on the default image.

It is amazing to me how many people create accounts on Listal just to vote for images of actors and actresses... no list creating... just image worship. Very odd to me but oh well not my thing.
However... is there any update on changing the way the primary image is handled?
