Poor vs High quality pictures

I'm not sure if this has already been addressed...

I was wondering if something could be done about the poor quality duplicate images.

For instance, Take a look at the Brothers Grimm pictures.

Early on, poor quality movie posters were uploaded. Now that higher quality posters are uploaded there is no need for the poor quality.

Is there something that can be done, so in the future we won't have tons of duplicates that are poor and high quality.

Rule of thumb, when you upload a better image, let the person who posted the lower resolution image know.

Have uploaded a few myself and I send notificaitons to others, it does seem to work well - up to a point of course.
